1960 XP Falcon Ute
Hi everyone...
Thought it was time to chuck another one of my builds on to this forum.
I saw the AMT Ranchero kit on Ebay a while ago and I knew I had to build
this into my collection. I kept it fairly simple apart from the following modifications;
Added a bit more to the rear roof line and angled the rear roof pillars
(to make it a little more Aussie looking). Converted to right hand drive.
I realised later that the brake booster is still on the L/H side! Dohhh!
so I added the air horn. Fitted a slightly larger V8 engine than the one
supplied and mag wheels are from AMT '40 Ford Delivery kit.
Side mirrors are from Revell 1950 Oldsmobile kit, and spot lights from
revell '32 Ford kit. Oh yeh!... check out the WA number plates!
Well that's about it. Constructive criticism always welcome.
Cheers for now

Ranchero Dash Conversion

Hi Ray... Dash conversion was quite simple because the dash
is reasonably symmetrical. All I did was cut around the actual instrument
panel then cut out a similar shape out of the right hand side (where the glove box was)
and cemented in the instrument panel. I then cemented a piece of plastic (cut from a
CD case) in to the L/H side. When all was set & dry, it was a case of a little putty
and sand to shape. I then scribed the Glove box lines into the L/H side and painted
a small silver dot to represent the glove box push button.
Below is the picture I used to do the conversion.

That looks really good. For those wanting to convert one to right hand drive. I have a dash panel available $5 plus post via KP Conversions. PM on here if you are interested in one.

Re: 1960 XP Falcon Ute
Looks great, well done.
Many a LHD car has been converted using an exclosed chain drive system so that the steering box and brake stuff remains in it's original place, so no big issue there.

Re: 1960 XP Falcon Ute
I remember reading in Street Machine Magazine, about someone that had used a push bike chain & cogs, for the steering conversion,

Re: 1960 XP Falcon Ute
must be legal in QLD i saw one done to a dodge charger, but thought it was a bit rough, the passenger would need to wear steel capped boots to keep their toes out of the chain !
