Have been a bit quiet since the Mackay model show. Haven't gotten much more done on the Camaro I have started but have managed to get this far into this build though. Straight from the Revell box plus a set of Pegasus wheels. Basic build of mine, wheels, lowered and semi detailed engine, nothing over the top. Just a build to keep the mind interested.

Its painted Champagne Gold Metallic, a Testors Model Master colour. You may or may not see it in the pics but every time I spray through airbrush I get tiny specks of shit in the paint. I then stop, let dry, wet sand and go again. But the specks still are in the paint. Anyone got some suggestions as how to limit these specks of shit?

Is it specks of dirt or just little lumps of paint? Maybe try thinning it bit more?

Ya cant beat the early stangs ...and that color is great on that body.

She's starting to look real "Purty"... May well be a silly
suggestion mate, but yeh, try thinning the paint maybe that
little bit more (as suggested by "Bazooka") and then pour the paint through
a clean piece of fine mesh nylon stocking or pantyhose into your air brush
paint cup. This may help rid the paint of those little "shitty bits".
Also do you lightly wipe the model with a "Tac Rag" prior to painting?

I usually thin the paint down to about the consistency of milk. Hadn't thought that it could be lumps of paint. Will try the stocking method next time. No I don't use a tac rag, just give it a wipe with a normal rag which probably doesn't help as it will have dust in it and (heres a physics theory for you all) wiping down plastic produces static electricity thus allowing airbourne dust particles to be attracted to the plastic. I think I just answered my own problem. Will try my method next model to see what happens. Thanks guys.

I had small bottles of Tamiya colour acrylic paint that's had metallic specks in it, had a red that had black in it a dark green with silver in it, I end up putting them in the bin, once I used a metallic silver in my airbrush, thought I did a good job cleaning it but no Mad the next time I used it I sprayed white and got silver specks in the white Shocked Rolling Eyes  lucky only just started to airbrush it and reclean the airbrush. My brother-law said when it has happen to him he said the bloody dust fairies have been at work again rolf

I make sure to remove the needle to clean my airbrushes.  Then before the next use spray thinners/Acetone thru it before starting and remember to never lay the first squirt of paint onto the model, spray it onto a bit of paper to ensure it's clean and crap free, it'll also help you adjust the flow and pattern.

First rule of mixing paint for spraying, no matter what the scale is to mix it then 'filter; the crap out before it goes into the gun.  Of course you need also to make sure the gun is clean and that is also where the thinner comes in handy, but wiping out the paint bowl with that tack rag is also a good idea.

Something that often confuses me when folks spray metalics or flake is that they try to get the stuff to sit down flat off the gun. The whole point of the metal in the paint is to get it to reflect/refract light and sparkle and this is the real trick with flake especially. You actually want it to stand upright not lay flat. Yup, it means more clear coat to get the surface smooth, but the result will be far better than anything where the flake lays down and it only needs two coats of clear to finish.
