The Silver Slipper A/Fuel Dragster
The Silver Slipper A/Fuel Dragster
This project was inspired by an aftermarket part and was largely an exercise in using aftermarket parts to enhance a basic kit build and, hopefully, create something different and more unique than the basic kit offered. The inspiration part was a set of Enderle fuel injectors from Speed City Resin. Designed for a big block Chevy, I decided to use an MPC Ramchargers dragster kit (my favorite FED digger kit), combined with a resin replica of the Western Mfg. Special dragster from the mid 60’s. I only used the rear shell, combining it with the nose and engine side panels from the Ramchargers kit. The Enderle injectors and the Big Block determined that it would be an A/Fuel dragster from around 1964. Given the period and type of dragster I chose to build a “show ‘n’ go” rail, one designed to be competitive on the strip but also with paint and full bodywork to compete at the custom car shows. This provided the perfect excuse to experiment with home-made large area decals to imitate a period fogged paint job of candy purple over metalflake silver – hence the name Silver Slipper. If it’s not listed below it came out of the MPC kit, but close to half the build was aftermarket.
Thanx for lookin’,
B.

Re: The Silver Slipper A/Fuel Dragster
Thanks everyone!
This had lots of untried parts and techniques so I was surprised at how straightforward it turned out to be. Sometimes the finished model actually turns out like the pictures in your head! Who coulda thunk it!
Anyway, your comments and insights are always much appreciated. Thanks again,
