Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
Thanks for all the nice words guys!
Been hard at work scratching up an interior for this thing. Here's my dodgy work so far on seat mounts and parcel shelf:
Luckily most of it is covered by the seat and the car! The seat is from the original AMT '32 five window (stock height roof) kit - modified to fit:
Have also used the dash from this kit along with a ’50 Ford steering wheel and scratched styrene rod/tube column/mount. The door panels (and interior tub) are from the chopped AMT ’32 five window, extended and modified to fit. I’m going to add some styrene rod rolls to these today to try and make ‘em a bit more attractive. No idea on interior colour as yet…
Carbs are sourced from the AMT ’58 Impala kit. Not sure what they are supposed to be, but they look like a big ol’ two barrel and fit the look I’m after. Also need to modify the supercharger manifold to fit twin carbs.
Still need to finish off resizing the windscreen frame – made a start but it hasn’t lined up too well, so need to revisit this as I want to mount it in the open position like the pic.

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
Thanks mate - here's another quick update.
A few hours work with the styrene rod gave me some decent looking door panels:
This is really easy (albeit expensive) to do. You just cut to length and glue on. I went through about half a pack doing these though, so at $7 a throw you wouldn’t want to do it on every model. The half round is even more expensive and you only get half as many!
Carbies are mounted now and headers are modified AMT W-engine - '58 Chevy I think...?

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
Is that a clothespeg in the last 2 pics Bryce?
From the stupidmarket?
Or is it a specialised modellers centre fulcrum spring clamp?

Nope - it's just a tool procured from the domestic environment. It won't end up on the finished model.
Come to think of it, I've never bought a peg in my life. No idea where they come from - they just always seem to be there when you need one.
Despite your assumptions, I ain't rich - at least not in the financial sense. I'm certainly glad I don't have to grovel to anyone to pursue something I enjoy though. Actually, I guess that does make me rich...

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
I find clothespegs in a small tub in the garage.
No idea how they get there though!

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
Got some wheels on this afternoon. Fronts are from AMT ’34 Ford with resin lancer caps and 40 ‘Ford brakes. Rears are Revell ’53 Corvette with steel rims from the ’31 sedan.
This chassis came from the AMT American Graffiti kit. I added a dropped I-beam axle with transverse leaf from my parts box.
The axle is located with a set of radius rods from the AMT ’55 Chevy nomad kit.
Shocks are scratchbuilt from styrene rod, Alcladded and use fuse wire mounts.
I added a steering box from a ’66 Nova and connected it up with a scratchbuilt tie rod and steering linkage.
Rear end is pretty much box stock for this chassis – I just extended the axles to push the wheels a bit wider outside the body. It’s not real pretty, but I couldn’t be bothered re-working it and it won’t really be seen anyway.
Couldn’t resist a couple of outdoor mockups with the body and engine. Still got a bit of work to do, but am getting there slowly….

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
OK - got the engine all plumbed up and installed. Had the usual unforeseen dramas, such as crankshaft pulleys hitting tie rods, headers hitting steering boxes, etc. but nothing too difficult to fix fortunately.
I made some intakes from aluminium tube. I have made them a bit longer and exaggerated than the reference, just coz I like the look.
Here's another quick and dirty mock-up to check progress:

Awesome work Bryce! It's great to see a build progressing like this - sort of like being in a classroom for modellers. Thanks for your continuing creative input and support of this hobby.

Re: '32 Coupe - Weesner Art
OK - this is the last of my 'almost finished' builds on the bench. I'm hoping to get it all wrapped up this week so that I can claim a hat trick for the month of June and stay on target for my 2009 average of one completed model per month!
Last night I worked up an exhaust using leftover Revell deuce parts and some styrene rod:
Also got some carpet on the floorboards, scratched up a shifter and added some decal gauges to the dash:
Headlights are on now too - just mounted to the grill shell to resemble the artwork.
