Revell 55 chevy
This is a kit I got off the father in law, which he's had in the closet for quite awhile. It's an older kit, instructions are copyrighted 1978. So far I've got the chassis complete, painted and weathered. With the engine I've added ignition leads, coil, fuel line and throttle linkage. The brake master cylinder is out of the parts bin. It's not correct but it's better than the lightly moulded one that was on the firewall. The weathering is going for a daily driver, not neglected but used.

Re: Revell 55 chevy
great job on the weathering, I specially like the effect on the exhaust system.

Re: Revell 55 chevy
Thanks. Exhaust manifolds are hull red xf9, flat black xf1 mixed with hull red for detail. Exhaust pipes are light sea grey xf25, details close to the engine is hull red flat black and orange x6. Details on the back of the system is hull red and red brown xf64. Followed by black and brown panel line color for stains. It's all tamiya. Continually mixing colors before applying.ozmodeler wrote:great job on the weathering, I specially like the effect on the exhaust system.

Re: Revell 55 chevy
I've never had much luck with getting doors to open and close nicely. So this time I cut out the hinge pin and glued in a copper wire with another piece of wire coating as the bush. Seems to work. Only thing is with the door in the correct spot it has a large gap at the windscreen and the quarter window sits out. That took a ridiculous amount of time.

Re: Revell 55 chevy
Sweet 55, I plan on doing various movie cars so there are at least two I want to do, 2 Lane Blacktop's and Milner's 55 from American Graffiti, although from what I have read they are technically the same car.

Re: Revell 55 chevy
Yes, the 55 Chevy's in both films are similar, as the Graffiti Chevy was one of the three '55s built for Two Lane Black top.
Since the engine in Falfa's '55 used in American Graffiti is not seen, it has been the subject of a lot of fun conjecture about what Falfa had in that car to take on the fastest '32 deuce coupe in the valley.
I think the engine details in the Two Lane Black top Chevy could suffice/be done in the AG Chevy, and there are plenty of reference photos for that.
The big differences between the two appears to be the exterior paint (flat vs. gloss black), wheels (mags vs. chrome reverse wheels) and interior (front bucket seats vs. front bench seat, interior tonneau cover , roll bar, etc) .
