Re: Redback
Thanks Artus.
The idea is it was a "rat rod" (hate that term) which got rescued and finished off properly.

Re: Redback
Looking good Zen, I especially like the blower finish.......but what's the go with those rims, is that grey paint or bare plastic?? looks like they could use some metalizer IMHO !!!

Re: Redback
Blower finish is aluminium Mr metal brushed on and then hit with a wash of The Detailer without polishing.
Valve cover finish is Gloss black enamel with Chrome Mr Metal over the top and then polished (most of the "chrome" comes off in the process leaving a metallic sheen).
The rims are painted with a mix of pale blue & metallic charcoal enamel. They have a very subtle metallic finish. Maybe too subtle for the photos.
I didn't want any chrome on this so I stripped them.
I may metalise the centres, possibly stainless steel, or just hit them with a wash of The Detailer.

Re: Redback
OK, after Pauls complaints about my wheels I went out and slapped a load of The Detailer over them.
It does improve them and that's how they'll stay as they are superglued in place so I can't dissassemble them to do anything else.
My thinking is that when Javelin Engineering rescued the original "rat rod" the rims were so pitted that the only way to save them was a coat of paint.
I've also now put the blower belt on and am working on the fuel pump/water pump set up and magneto.
Next is sorting out a grille (i've got 2 pre cut down resin ones to choose from) and plumbing in and detailing the injection & scoops (which you're either going to love or hate - they certainly are not what you'd expect on something like this
)

Re: Redback
Wheels here with a black wash and knock offs (chrome, but dulled with matt clear).
Also decided on a radiator (The Parts Box chopped Model A IIRC)
And here's one of the scoops. It's a The Parts Box Big & Ugly with added brackets.
