56 Chevrolet 4 door 210 sedan (My baby)
I've been wanting to build this ever since the Delray kit was released. This is how we want our 1:1 56 to look. Finally, after far to many years (16) we have chosen our colours. The blue is called Aurora Blue pearl and the white is Chrystal White pearl, both new Mazda colours.
I started with the Delray kit and converted it to a 4 door, absolute godsend having the real thing there to take measurements (the kit is pretty spot on too)I also converted it to right hand drive, wheels are from the 55 Sports Coupe. As mine has drums on the back, I converted that as well. Steering wheel is from a 59 Chev.
Hopefully this year we will finally get our baby to the painters, so I did this as inspiration for my wife and gave it to her for Chrissy, she was blown away.
Hope you like.

Nice build - great job on the conversion. Did you have to lengthen the body or is it the same wheelbase? Would love to see some progress pics - do you have some we can have a look at?

Sorry Bryce, only got the one pic from a couple of years ago when I started it,
Did one side and got put off by scribing door lines so put it down then picked it up again about 2 weeks before christmas, hadn't even finished painting 4 days out from chrissy so no time for pics and it was secret squirrell.
Body on the 2 door post and 4 door are exactly the same, even the roof is the same, a lot of guys used to convert their 1:1 4 door family cars to 2 door, just move the B pillar back and fill in the rest.
So basically all I did was make new pillars and fill old door line and scribe new ones.

Love your '56 4-door Tubman. It appears that the Delray conversion to a 4-door looks fairly easy to do . Before the Delray I wanted to build a 4-door '55 so I bought 5 4-door resin bodies from the U.S. Sold 3 , building one and I have one set up to recast it because the guy who made them in U.S.A went out of business.
I,m a fan of creating cars to mirror image of my 1:1 cars , I,m doing models of my current 3 cars at the moment . How far have you got with the 1:1 , looks good as a model so the real one should look just as good or better

Thanks BBK, wouldn't mind getting hold of one of your 55's, would have got a resin 56 if I knew who did one. Even tho it wasn't too hard to convert, you can just see the original door lines, they were smooth before I painted, oh well shit happens.
The 1:1 is a fair way off, pretty much ready to go to panel and paint, body is totally stripped with a coat of sealer. Chassis has been blasted and painted chassis black, front end is all done. As I'm using, at this stage, the original RHD steering box I've rebuilt that and replaced the idler arm bushes with roller bearings, they call it poor mans power steering, so hopefully that will lighten it up a bit. I have also replaced all the seals and bearings in the Chev diff. Just a matter of $$$$ now, usual story.

That's excellent work, I hope it doesn't take you so long to get the real one back on the road.

Gotta love those Chev's, this and the '55 droptop go great together, bet you wish you had that one in 1:1 too.

Sorry guys, almost forgot about this, these are the only recent pics of the 1:1 that I've got. Front ent is all new and is ready for panel and paint. Doesn't look much in the pics but I can see it now with the model.
