Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo-B
This is a model I'm reviewing for "The Diecast Magazine". It's a Revival metal kit in 1:20 scale. The subject is a 1935 Alfa Romeo P3 Grand Prix car as driven by Tazio Nuvolari. It has over 300 parts - mostly from metal but there are some plastic parts, plus rubber tyres. The wire wheels are already pre-assembled and look quite authentic, but I painted them because the real cars never had bright metal wheels. Other parts for the engine, etc, have been painted and weathered.
It is not a kit for beginners. The instruction sheet leaves much to be desired and you will need much experience to assemble this one from just exploded view drawings. Trouble is no order of assembly is given so chaos rules. You will also need to have a tube of instant adhesive (preferably the gel type) because the screws, nuts, etc are not enough to hold some parts together.
It's coming along nicely and should be completed soon. The delays I've experienced with this is that parts don't fit too well and need much cleaning, filing, or just plain modifying to get them to fit together well. Still it's a challenge in my old age and I'm enjoying it immensly. I'll put up more progress pictures soon.

These kits can turned into museum pieces. I had the Bugatti, but sold it, because I knew I wasn't going to build it. Looking good so far.

Sounds like your typical American plastic model kit!
Nice work so far Terry - good to see something on your bench again.

Re: Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo-B
This isn't a new kit is it?
It looks suspiciously similar to one my old man built about 20 years ago.
From what I remember it went together well any is quite sturdy when finished. Although the steering didn't stand up to visitors to his office driving it around his desk.
It still exists and now sits on his desk at home positioned near the back where the grandkids can't reach it!

No this isn't a new kit. It's been around since late-sixties, only then they were called "Casadio" kits. The name changed to Revival after the original Casadio company got into some financial trouble in the mid-seventies.
They are very good models but incredibly fiddly and difficult to work with because of poor fit of parts and lack of orderly assembly instructions. I built the original Alfa Romeo kit when they were first imported into Australia. It was to be used as a sales sample, but the kits were too expensive and they sold only a few. They are still expensive today and cost around AUS$200 - $240 online.
This is the Italian website link if you are interested to see Revival's range of models:
