Honda NSX Super GT racing car (Takata Dome 2005)
Well, here it is all finished up.
What a fantastic model kit. I was sceptical at first – mainly due to the lack of engine, expensive price tag and the diecast metal base plate – but this kit has far exceeded my expectations.
The subject matter is well out of my comfort zone and the build was not without its problems, mainly to do with the complicated fade paint job, which I arrogantly decided to tackle with an airbrush rather than the kit supplied decals.
In fact, most of the problems I encountered were to do with paint. The kit fits together so well that I had to strip paint off almost every edge during final assembly.
Highlights include:
• windscreen, head and tail light mask
• the best decals I’ve ever worked with
• precise fit of every part
• kit supplied metal transfer emblems and fine mesh for air intakes
I have learnt a lot of new skills on this one and would highly recommend this kit to anyone that enjoys being challenged.

Looks fantastic Bryce - your hard work has certainly paid off. And you're taking away something new from the building experience. Love that detail!

Bryce, nicely done mate. I have all the NSX's printer off in cardstock flat pack and one day I'll get around to building them but at the moment I have to stop building as I have a skin prolem where it's peeling of my hands and we don't know why. Anyway this is one great & fab car U've built well done my friend.

Absolutely love this Bryce, your detailing is , as always, magnificent.
It's always an eyeopener to build something outside your usual areas of interest and it sounds like you really enjoyed this one. You would never pick it for a first effort, all the roundy round boys had better be looking over their shoulders

Thanks Kane. I've built a few Tamiya kits over the years, but the thing that got me with this one was the absolute lack of disappointment with any part of it. Everything just worked perfectly. I am so used to having to make do with kits that don't fit together that this just felt like a bit of a holiday and I enjoyed the break.
I guess what surprised me the most was that for a curbside kit, it kept me busy for well over a month. And when AMT and Revell kits are now pushing $40 a pop, I actually reckon this was probably worth the $70 price tag.
I'll always build American cars as I like them so much, but it sure is nice to be able to put your energy into model building rather than correcting manufacturing defects for a change.
