Custom-built Ferrari
This is Mattel's version of a Ferrari 575GTZ Zagato to 1:18 scale. The real car belongs to a wealthy Japanese businessman who spent over US$3 million to have his 2004 Ferrari 575M Maranello converted to a Zagato design in homage to the Ferrari 250GTZ, whose 50th. anniversary was in 2006. Zagato in Italy undertook the work only with Ferrari's permission. The real car is painted in metallic grey with a white roof line, and has an eggcrate grille rather than the honeycomb mesh grille on this model. This one is all black, but for an Elite model it's not too bad and after all, it is a one-off (for the moment).
