1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
I have since sold 4 of these and then replaced them with another 3
After many years of people telling me I waste too much time with models, and that I should be building real stuff.
I thought I'd give it a go. the 1986 VK Mobil 05 Commodore. this is gunna be my new company car, can't wait.
BEFORE
A straight body and no rust made it east for prep....Just sick of sanding!!!
A quick test fit
A splash of under coat
colour looks grey in this pic, but its Grecian white. also had to get a different air filter for new bonnet.
Masking up for the red. after the colour is done, will give it a hit with clear.
still got to get a blue interior. also a dummy drop tank, side pipe, fuel fillers in boot lid
bonnet pins, roll cage, mags are at powder coaters.
this is just like building models but only bigger. cant wait to sign write it.
will keep yas posted with progress.

That's cool.
What do you use to mark out the graphics before you tape them up?
Did you have to take the doors off to paint in the jams, etc.?

It's the 6mm sign writing mask. not sure what brand, maybe 3M.
got lazy with doors, they are too hard to line up again, had a tiny
spray gun to get to tight spots,
Re: 1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
Shoey mate, thats a big model car, what scale is it?!? Going to look good when all finished, better make room in your cabinet!

Re: 1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
Heres a couple more pics, got my wheels on. the car gets lowered next Wednesday, will post some more pics then. I put my blue interior in, still a few more bits to find. will get some new carpet down the track. and still a bit more signage to do as well. I have to paint thin red lines over the tail lights and paint the strip on the boot.
I was thinking about removing the rear louver until I found out how much it was worth, its a genuine VK steel one and it doesn't rattle. What do you guys reckon...Ditch it???... having fun puting it together.

Re: 1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
Keep the louvre! Louvre's are great accessories, there right up there with big blocks, Predator carbys and NOS fogger kits in the cool stakes!

With that awesome paint job no one will even notice something as inconspicuous as louvers, so as for kepping them or not, I'd say its up to you. They don't add anything special to the look but then again they don't detract from it either. This is going to be an insane car to drive around in...I'm green with envy.

Re: 1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
It looks good but sorry it just doesn't turn me on, commodores never did & for all those who think I'm into fords they don't do it either. I'm just not a car type guy when it come to Aussie stuff BUT hey don't let that stop you all from doing what ya doing it's good to see a car done up as a race replica no matter what it is. Go .

Re: 1.1 Brock Moffat Replica
Still chasing a few more bits of blue interior, I have sprayed some parts such as the center consul, top of dash board and hood lining,
Got it lowered today, its not as low as I would have liked but the thing is already cop bait and I don't want to draw any more attention.
Have to put up with daggy old seat covers till I get some race seats.
