36 Chopped 5W
Well here is the finished article.
After re-reading a few of my Rodders Journals, I decided to model a 50's style rod where the owner would have completed various aspects of the build on weekends and re-assembling to use the rod as a daily driver on work days.
This model depicts a "halfway point" where the chassis is pretty much done, engine built (gotta go racing) and the fancy wheels and tires have been purchased.
Paint colour has been selected and sampled on various panels and the wheels
Body repairs/alterations are underway with replacement door, fender and rumble seat fitted.
Old surplus store plastic sheet is used as temporary windows
Given my dislike for chopping sloped roof rods, I bought a Flintstone body
Front and rear ends are from the AMT 41 Woody (still don't get why they did that kit)
Wheels are from the 50 Ford Pickup
Kit engine with scratch built exhaust (to keep the cops away)
Interior door frame work is scratchbuilt and 40 dash is an AMT piece
Chris

Re: 36 Chopped 5W
Glad to see another Rodder's Journal fan - it's a top magazine for ideas and a bit of rodding history. Obviously it's worked here because that's one of the sweetest builds I've seen. Well done Chris!

Re: 36 Chopped 5W
Chris, that's gorgeous.
I think you've captured exactly what you set out to get.
If anyone calls it a rat rod I suggest you hit them with a copy of TRJ until they relent.

Re: 36 Chopped 5W
Yes , I have to agree with the others , you have really captured what you set out to achieve . It's a good choice of style too as it was so common (and still is today , minus the roof chop of course , think of all the ricers , commodores/falcons etc with $$$ wheels and bad paint or mismatched bodykits ) but is rarely represented .

Nailed it Chris!
However, whilst you've got mufflers to keep the cops at bay, I think they may be a little annoyed at you drivin' round the streets with no tail-lamps.

Hey Carps
Chuck was just going to strap a couple of battery powered push bike lamps on if he didn't get the 39 lights fitted by Sunday night
