Mercedes CLK GTR Tamiya 1:24
Hi All,
This is my latest build. It is quite a big model for 1:24 scale and the parts are fitting together perfectly so far.
This week I have spent 4 evenings on this and have managed to put together the engine.
I am not planning on rushing this (haven't got much time anyhow) as I have 2 other models to complete.
Has anyone built this one and can offer some advise?

I have the kit but haven't built it as yet. I have heard from others who built it that it is typical Tamiya - practically falls together without any problems. From the looks of that V12 engine you are doing just fine.
I saw the real car last year at the National Car Museum in England, and as you say it is quite large for a competition car. It was very successful in the mid to late 90's, outperforming even the McLaren sports cars.

Re: Mercedes CLK GTR Tamiya 1:24
tip: with Decals start with a glossy surface it allows the decal to contact the suface better and less chance of silvering (air trapped under the decal). When the decal has dried you can mix some dull coat and clear together and paint over it so it looks a bit more natural and not like an after thought.
yours seem to have laid down pretty good on the rocker cover, try a little dull coat and clear,Obviosly try some test sample first before the finished product.

Re: Mercedes CLK GTR Tamiya 1:24
Thanks for tips, and complements guys. This is only my 4th car kit ans I am quite pleased with my effort so far. Been airbrushing what I can with my new air brush (An Evolution 2 in 1 by Harder and Steenbeck) so just learning really. Reckon by the 1oth kit I should have my modeling skills and techniques worked out.
I will be taking my time with this kit but plan to post when I make reasonable progress. I can only spend a few hours modeling a day in the evening since I still have to work full time (to support my modeling hobby - oh and pay the bills)
This is a great site and been getting alot of good tips from everyone.
Thanks again.

Mate, from the look of that engine I'd say your skills are workin' out just fine.
