Graffiti Coupe
I’ve been working on and off on a replica of John Milner's coupe from the movie American Graffiti since I was a boy. When they re-released the model kit I thought great, only to find that it bears little to no resemblance to the real thing. This is an ongoing project using all the parts I have been saving for the last twenty years and one of my home made resin five window coupe bodies on a Revell ’32 roadster chassis. So far, so good and I hope to get some kind of cross between piss yellow and puke green on this thing come painting season!

Re: Graffiti Coupe
That's looking to be one of the best and most accurate Milner coupe's I've seen in scale, but then we expect that from you Bryce.
I'm working on a certain local '40 convert belonging to a good friend of mine. It's also a very similar shade of piss yeller. I started with one of the little Humbrol cans that is very close and with a tiny amount of lime green have got exactly the colour required.

I shall be watching with interest Bryce.
The Man a Fre 4 carb manifold will be a bit of a challenge although the Revell die cast had a half decent version

I reckon the six carb manifold found in the AMT 36 coupe and some of the '40s might be a good starting point.
Still a bit of work, but not too much for Bryce.

Re: Graffiti Coupe
I've got an old six carb manifold - not too sure where it came from but I think it's Revell - and have taken out the middle two inlets - it looks pretty close...Carps wrote:cdansie wrote:I shall be watching with interest Bryce.

Re: Graffiti Coupe
Here's a quick update. Been working on some headers today. The grey bits are kit items straightened and extended to clear the chassis and the blue mufflers are off a set of pipes from my parts stash (I think they came off a Revell Z28 Camaro from memory...). Just need to add a couple of flanges and they should be right. Had to adjust the engine and gearbox mounts to get them to sit in the right spot, but I reckon this looks OK.

Re: Graffiti Coupe
Thanks Allan - appreciate the offer but this is actually my own resin body that I made by grafting the AMT five window roof onto the Revell roadster body, so I'm pretty sure it's accurate. The old AMT '32 coupes have a sectioned body, which would be why the article you refer to suggested adding some meat into the body sides.

Re: Graffiti Coupe
Johnno, I've got a number of those Bryce type paint stands available.
As an AMCC forum member I can let you have them for $10 each plus P&P.
They are the jumbo size and this week they come in Grey, white, black or Yellow.
There is also the deluxe version with small parts holder* for a mere $15.
Send money to Javelin Engineering at the usual address.
*a T shaped bit of sprue taped to it with a pair of clothes pegs superglued & taped to the top.

Re: Graffiti Coupe
Got some paint on the chassis and it's up on wheels now.
Rear end is '57 Chev running a transverse leaf and scratchbuilt radius rods and no shocks as per the real car:
Front is dropped I-beam with stock wishbone and '40 Ford brakes all chromed (or in this case Alcladded) as per the real car:
