Toyota FJ40 Hard Top
Here is the next one its the 72 to 76 model FJ40 land cruiser hard top The FJ45 that I did was the 76 to 83 model the only real difference is the dash board and the grill their are a few different types of back doors this one will have the two doors rather than the tailgate system.
At the moment it is in the rough basic stage and the camera did not want to play, So it does not look like much but in a day or two it will lock a pit more like a classic cruiser. The bits of plastic that you see in the background are ready to be cut out cab sections for the next ones that I will do.Hope you like the pictures of it so far

I do all of my building notes and drawings for my projects in them they are a good size and cheap which is the best part
Thanks for following this build so far. This build should be easier than the other one as I hope that I worked out a few simpler ways of doing things, I've still not worked out how I'm going to do the rear doors yet but I am leaning toward rear doors rather than the tail gate. The roof is nearly finished and have marked in the doors I am going to do opening doors on this one as I was disappoint at how much you can see in the the cab on the other build. So here is the pictures with the roof on, I hope that you like the pictures

Just a modeler-holic mate No since my neck and arm have totally given out and I had to stop work I spend a far pit of time doing it now because I can't sit still I have to be doing something all the time, I have to read a book and watch the TV at the same time type of thing. About the only thing I can get away with doing is sit and watch TV and model because just about everything else is to painful which is driving me nuts but after so many years the Doc's think that they might off finally found out the cause, I not even allowed to drive at the moment because of the amount of narcotics ( Pain Killers ) that they have me on.
Was talking to James the other night He sent me the date for the car and model show at the end of next month and I have just got an appointment with the Neurosurgeon when I was going to be down so I will be coming down for the Model show and car show and my family will just have to wait to the more important stuff is done. I am looking forward to meeting both off you in the flesh, And I might sneek in some models your you to paint for me

Your not the first person to tell me that or to say that you Hate me.
Scratch building is not that hard if you have a solid medium skill base I started doing it because so many of the vehicle that I want to model have never been kitted or are so rare. But all I can say is get all the info that you are going to need, don't pick something to complex first up and take your time.

No about 4 hours a night on average then one night a month about 12 to 14 hours I have been that way since ? always. Any way I am a believer in the saying " I sleep when I'm Dead "
Not really but it sounded good it depends on my pain level and medication as any chronic pain suffer on here will tell you. It can be hard to get to sleep

Don't worry about it Bill I started modelling again as part of rehab in 92 and never stopped so that's 18 years. but what you must remember is that I will not get much better with my hand, arm, shoulder damage but you will, and your work blows me away.

Re: Toyota FJ40 Hard Top
Sorry that I have been a bit slack this week on keeping you updated I have done a bit on the right side and rear, I still have the Barn doors to finish but the right side door is done but not in the pictures. I had to cut 4mm out of the cab as I measured it wrong the windows are finished but I might change the side windows from a fixed pain to the 1/4 opening 3/4 fixed style but I have not made up my mind yet. The rear flairs are in the style of the Holden Torana A9X? style bolt on flairs and are 4mm wide so the 38" TSL super swamper tyres fit under them. I have also done the light bar and roof rack for it but I not shore if I will keep the roof rack on at this stage. Hope you like what I have done so far.
With the Roof rack on ?
With the Roof rack off?
Good picture of the Flairs a real bugger to do if I new how much I would not of done them but I think they look great on FJ cruises

Re: Toyota FJ40 Hard Top
Kynan,it's looking real good. Thanks much for your very kind words. Fortunately,IMO,Bud,I can't see where you need any improve ment, limitations or not. Looks like you've adapted well, plus you obviously have great patience. I'd guess I laid off building for 5 or 6 years. Got back at it about 10 years ago. I'm very glad I did. It's great therapy as well as a great source of pride,as I can't do the real ones anymore. All the folks here have been very encouraging and helpful as well. A few are in progress here, but real slow. As soon as something is far enough along I'll get with Joe and post something again. I truly enjoy all y'all's feedback as well as the BSing. You keep building,I'll keep watching and marveling. Best to you,Bill

Re: Toyota FJ40 Hard Top
Hey dude, those flairs look great and I dont even like flairs as a rule. Roof rack ,maybe one just made out of bars? looks better with ,imo but looks kinda chunky as is. (could be that I've only seen them with the bars setup?). Anyways keep up the brilliant work
