Post by stoongee Thu 16 Sep 2010, 11:21 pm

started this one couple of days ago, stole bits n pieces from revell 69 nova special edition and the 55 pro sportsman kits.. i am using the front end from the nova and the rear tubs and four link from the sportsman. i was goin to do a complete build but the resin body is making things difficult doh swear cause it is so thick on the inside, and i dont have experience trying to thin out plastic,so i think im gonna just tint the windows and add a couple of seats and maybe a dash. nah

so instead of doing the interior im just going to focus on the engine bay and paint. here is amock up of the wheels and the engine bay

enjoy and thanks for looking

Do you have a Dremmel (or similar motor tool)?
If so use it with a sanding drum and carefully sand away excess thickness from the inside.
You don't have to do the whole thing, just where it shows or interferes with fitment.
Wear a dust mask while doing this as resin dust is nasty.

Good work so far BTW.

yeah its a tpb cast, i will not be buying another. bumpers dont line up,front end is warped and the bodyline does not run all the way thru the doors. not much i can do about it either just have to make it look as good as i can.

and i do own a dremel but the resin cast will not allow me to fit an interior in because the way sill wrap under the body. ill see how i go, wish me luck

I thought it might've been, it's identifyable as a HQ Monaro, but doesn't really look like one. The shapes not right. Can you slip an interior tub in from the front or back? Good luck with it, i'm sure you'll make something out of it mate. Wink

Shame about the quality of the body work but I think it will look cool as a burn out car I like the concept behind it.

Its not a perfect HQ body , But ,it will still build up as something OK. More as you have done here as a wild burnout car or as a drag car or wild Pro Streeter . I have one of the TPB Monaro kits (naturally ,as I am a Monaro Nut) and I'm building mine as a mild type of Pro Street, like my HQ was 25 years ago.
So Stoongie, build it the way you like, and like Checkmate says , the shapes not quite right --- we aren't rivet counters-- just so long as it looks good, done well and wilder the better! I've said enough now?
Cheers Ron

I agree - do it your way and don't worry too much about reality. Instead of thinning the body inside, why not instead try modifying the interior tub to fit.

Any thought on colours yet?
