1936 Ford 3w coupé, classic custom
It's been more than 3 years since I last finished an american custom car. This particular project has been on my mind for more than 20 years now and when someone suggested a 1936 Ford CBP on our scandinavian model-forum (Scaleracers) I decided it was about time to get going.....
This, is what I started with:
Former owner/builder had opened up the right door. I'm not really fond of open doors on a model kit, so my first task was to rebuild the body into a closed door position.
I plan to use as many old parts as possible from the kit, but also use parts from other contemporary kits and parts packs. The custom grille filler was slightly altered using sheet plastic and putty. It'll house a cut down 1940 Ford chrome grille.
The interior bucket had to be rebuilt from open door-position as well:
I dropped the axles both front and rear to achieve a better, taildraggin' stance.
I gave the top hood a "single-piece" look and plan to use cut down 1934 side panels:
The rear part of the rear fenders and body was extended 2 scale inches.
I made deep tunnels way low in the rear fenders for the custom taillights from an old Revell Parts Pack.
This is how it sits on my bench right now:
For headlights I use a combo of stock 1936/1940 Ford pieces:
The engine will get a heavy chrome treatment:
A 1940 dash got a new speedo from the custom center console in the AMT 1958 Chevy and the stock benchseat was rescribed to look like Tuck'n roll:
It'll get some exterior tuck'n roll as well on the rood and spare wheel (and maybe the running boards...???)
Sorry 'bout all them pictures....Stay tuned as more will follow

You can never have too many pics. Love those '36 Fords -what you've done so far is really cool. I assume the body was previously painted and then stripped down? I'll be following this one all the way. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks for the link. However I try as much as possible to avoid resin-parts in my builds... I like to do things "the hard way" my friends use to say

Now she's starting to look cool. It will look even better when a coat of paint goes on.
