'68 Dodge Dart GSS
This one seems to have turned out to be a Track Day/Amateur Race Car built from two Darts. A Green one that had been sitting in a swamp for a number of years supplied the bodywork while a tubbed blue F.A.S.T. racer got rolled and provided the chassis.
Our racer took all the bits to a local bodyshop to have the rust dealt with and a coat of paint applied but it seems that they didn't do a very good job...
And this was my intention all along. I didn't paint the chassis blue and the interior brown and then realise that a blue body would clash. And I didn't drip a big dollop of acrylic clear on the body which had to be hidden with rust...

Re: '68 Dodge Dart GSS
Thanks guys.
What I set out to do was a dry run for the Hemi Dart kit to identify any tricky areas.
Only things to watch for are that the wheels are very sloppy on their spindles (meaning weird camber - gluing them on would solve this) and that the chassis isn't symmetrical - one sill is actually moulded wider than the other (well it is in the Mr Norm kit - haven't checked on the Hemi Dart) causing a gap on one side between the body & the sill.
The narrow sill is on the bottom in the above pic.
I also couldn't get the interior & chassis to sit up inside the body as high as I would have liked. It seemed to want to sit with the sills sticking down below the sides of the body but then the front chassis clip didn't fit neatly against the front inner mudguards . In the end I settled for the sills hanging down (this was rather noticeable as they were blue ) and used G clamps to force the front of the chassis up against the radiator support panel.

Great work,Fred. The rust blisters up behind the windshield are perfect. Those cars were awful rust buckets. Did you alter the dash? It looks great too. As slowly said, spare us some imagination, sport. Best to you. Bill

Re: '68 Dodge Dart GSS
They didn't do a good job on the rust because they used bog instead of real metal, but that's what's called workmanship these days.
Great model Fred - as real-looking as can be.

Re: '68 Dodge Dart GSS
Thanks folks.
I did a right Hand Drive conversion Bill. Fairly easy as the dash is symmetrical on this one. Instruments from (IIRC) the AMT '56 Vic & steering wheel from either a Nissan van or a Toyota Soarer (80's jap plastic wheel seemed to go with the beige & brown interior colours).
Roll bar is from the Revell '68 Charger.

Re: '68 Dodge Dart GSS
That's funny.
I should put a sign like that on my Honda slagging Whitehorse Accident Repair Centre. It's been back four times and it's still not right - probably never will be.
