Mad Max 2 Interceptor "Kick it in the guts, Barry!!"
Howdy,
Here's Aoshima's Mad Max 2 Interceptor, finished in time for the drive to Tumut! Basically a box stock quickie build so I'd have something new for the show. 2 weeks, start to finish. Paint is various shades of black, with copious amounts of weathering. Not a bad kit, everything went together with minimal fuss, so I'm pretty pleased all round!
Enjoy!

Looks great! How's about some info on how you did the weathering?

Yeah!! Chris that is Kick Arse. You should be pleased too. The dust even looks like the right shade of Broken Hill red.

Very nice, It's also good to see the new Mad Max 4 movie (Fury Road) will have another hardtop in it. Didn't it blow up in No.2.

Re: Mad Max 2 Interceptor "Kick it in the guts, Barry!!"
Thanks guys!
The dog and Max have gone to check out a gyrocopter that appears to have been abandoned......
The weathering was a bit of a cheat on the body. Just shaved some chalk pastels with a blade then brushed it on with a flat paintbrush. Probably not the best method as you can't touch the car as the dust rubs off. But once it's in the cabinet, who touches it anyway?? And it looks like dust! The interior was done in acrylic washes. About 80% thinner, 20% paint. Splash it around and it collects in the details. When dry it looks like accumulated dust.
@ Guy.... Yep that's mine! I wanted to clutter up the interior, tried to make a bedroll out of tissue soaked in PVA. Didn't rate it so I never used it! Must've fallen out of the box at your joint! Chuck it out...

i used chalk dust on my Val coupe from MM2 when it was looking about right i sprayed it with clear, it can be handled without the dust coming of.

I did experiment with clear on some spare bits, but it really changed the look of these pastels, they almost disappeared!

Artists use Krylon clear acrylic on their pastel works. I have tried it and it didn't change the colours, but that was on white drawing board. I don't know how it would react on a model. Did you try hair spray?
Anyway I like this Interceptor (and anything Mad Max). It does have an air of authenticity about it with your weathering technique. Really nice mate!

Another great MM car, nice weathering too. Panel lines look fantastic, did you rescribe them a little?
