What materials do you use for building?
What are some of the other things besides styrene and aftermarket goodies you use for model building?
In the past iv used such things as;
plastic slip book covers, chinese food container lids, milo tin lids and gladwrap and glue for body alteration stuff
straws, wooden skewes, sprue, empty pen ink tubes, pen springs, old USB plugs and computer keyboard keys for various other things...
colanders/sieves for grills, acetate for windows, tin cans, stripped old electricals for wires...
what have you guys been using?

Re: What materials do you use for building?
No aftermarket stuff here. Painted fishing line for leads, thin electrical wire (pulled from old RC) for plug boots, battery strap and throttle linkage brackets cut from aluminium can, that rod on the throttle linkage is guitar string, the springs on the throttle linkage are also guitar string, wiring looms are strips cut from tin, fuel/brake line is fuse wire, and the radiator cap is the head cut from a nail.
You can't see it very well from this pic, but the roll bar is made from spure.

Re: What materials do you use for building?
i used it quite a while ago to some avail... on a pos 51 chev, trying to add fins to the rear
i made a little pouch of pva glue in gladwrap (thats where i went wrong, it shrank too much) and waited a little bit for it to congeal a bit and shaped it around the rear side part of the chev. made the shaping process a bit more easier than slopping a glob of putty (what i should have used) on the bare plastic of the chev... cause if it didnt work out id have to sand it all off, rather than having a seperate piece i can test fit/ duplicate with ease... will be trying it again with alfoil and putty in the future

Re: What materials do you use for building?
I took an old radio apart to see what I could use from that before I tossed it...
-the speaker paper will be used down the road for a grill.
-there were these metal L-shaped clips that held the cassette buttons with little holes about 1/4 of an inch apart. I placed it against a frame and it is now my perfect jig for making speed holes in the frame.
I took apart an old microwave and am planning to use the door screen for a grill as well.

GG - save the turntable & plate from that microwave. Perfect for in a spray booth or just for turning stuff.
