Sunstar 1:12 Morris Mini 850
I got this in the mail today from a British mini model supplier I know through another model forum , it's Sunstar's 1:12 scale model of 621AOK which was the first public released mini . This being a very early UK mini has a lot of differences to an Australian model (interior door pulls instead of the handle ours had etc) and is a really cool model . All the wheels are removable with tiny nuts (black T spanner in the tool kit) and it comes with a model of the original jack and wheel brace among other things . The door hinges are pinned like the original's and open the same , the wipers wipe but also hinge up like the originals as well . Sunstar has just released a 1:12 scale mini traveller (mini van with rear seats and rear side windows) , trying to resist buying one of those as well ....
Engine detail could do with some enhancing ...
bootlid and doors open and you have to turn the boot handle and door handles to open them ,
tool kit , hubcaps , "modelling tool" for opening side windows etc and spare tyre ,
Size comparrison with a Tamiya 1:24 mini and a corgi mini from the 70's ,

I've spent less on some of the full sized mini's I've bought over the years ....
OK , including post was $215 or so , not cheap

not to bad for that size/scale including post, a 1/18 classic carlectable would cost that much maybe more bought localysports850 wrote:I've spent less on some of the full sized mini's I've bought over the years ....

OK , I only look at mini's as a rule so am out of touch with other makes and manufacturers pricing . I know I saved about $50 getting it from the guy in the UK I get things from as opposed to locally

As the Borg said "resistance is futile"! Go and buy the Traveller as well and be done with it, or you'll miss out. Worse still you might even have to pay collector's prices for it later.
Sunstar do such a good job of these larger diecasts. The included detail is amazing. I have their 1:12 scale Morris Minor convertible and the coupe, plus the Volkswagen Beetle convertible and the sedan. Amazing models!
Go on - you can do it.
