'39 Chevy Coupe Kustom
Started as a glue bomb which I built as a kid,
With a bit of work, I got it to look like this,
Body- Everything smoothed, pie chopped, replaced the roof and chopped, widened and extended the rear fenders, boxed the number plate area, opend up the cowl vent, replaced all the body trim and chopped down the grille. The headlights have been sunken, peaked and frenched. Custom side skirts with an open bar feature. Number plate box, turn siginals, tailights and exhuast openings have been flared. Mahogeny veener side floor boards. Made all the windows from clear packaging, styrene rod, bmf and window tint. One side window half open and the other is all the way up.
Paint job- Light gun metal on the body and a silver/grey marble effect on the front fenders and roof. The fenders and roof are a base coat of silver leaf then I burnt spure which left marks on the silver. After that, I covered the whole body with tamyia smoke and a coat of clear pearl.
Interior- Although it's very hard to see inside the car, there's a completely scratch built interior in there. Complete with RHD and a driver dude, who also recevied some mods. Can't forget about his sunnies
Chassis- Scratch built a three link rear suspension, rebuilt half of the floor and front end is from a '69 Camaro. The rims are from the '67 Chevelle and the wheels are aftermarket Pirellis.
Engine- is the kits 427. made the air scoop, added dual carbs, plug wirs, fuel lines and throttle linkages/cable.
I think that's everything!!!
Big thanks to Carps for giving me the idea for the side windows. Huge big thanks to Zenrat for making the number plate. With the smoke effect I thought "Smokin" was the way to go.
Plus, thanks to all who gave advice and support, as I always take it on board.
Cheers guys, hope it was an interesting build.
Joe.

Re: '39 Chevy Coupe Kustom
It's a remarkable makeover Joe. I like everything about it. That marble effect colour scheme is great, and the extra details are skillfully done. A real showpiece this one. Whatever happened to the wheels on the original gluebomb? I think they look sharp.

Re: '39 Chevy Coupe Kustom
Amazing work there Joe , it would be amazing if you'd started with a brand new kit let alone starting with a glue bomb ...

Smokin! Great mods, lots of cool little details and an awesome paintjob. The timber running boards are a great touch.
Thanks for posting all the progress along the way, I enjoyed watching this build come together.

Re: '39 Chevy Coupe Kustom
Thanks for your comments guys, glad you like it.
I did push myself with this build, I tried to create my own look with plenty of detail. The '39 isn't one of the nicest lookin coupes, so that was a challenge on it's own. My favourite mods are the half open window and the fat rear end. I like the paint job but I keep wondering if a candy red would've suited it better. Anyways, it is what it is.
Thanks again guys!
