AMT '41 Plymouth Coupe - Kustom.
Finsihed this old AMT '41 Plymouth coupe, instead of doing what I really should have been doing today..
It's chopped about six scale inches. The rear portion of the top is moved back and made from the carson top out of Revellogram '48 Ford convertible, narrowed, trimmed and filled to fit.
Grille is stock, headlamps from AMT '50 Ford, trimmed from three bar kustom grille and the front bumper is AMT '50 Merc. Now the interesting bit here is it's from the late kit that has those butt ugly big wheels, the earlier kits having a cros bar between the overiders on both front and rear bars (a little model car trivia). Hood is nosed and filled, otherwise stock, I though about Appletons, but think it looks classier without those old Kustom standards.
Fadeway fenders made from tube cut in half and ground to fit, filled with flat sheet and a little model car bondo. All fenders have had the reveals removed and are now smoothly moulded to the body. Rear skirts are scratch built from flat sheet and the front fender flares are done in a style I picked up from Bo Huff using round stock and mre filler.
Rear bumper and tailamps are also from AMT '50 Merc kit, decklid decromed but otherwise stock, with rear pan moulded to body.
Interior is largely stock with chrom foil detailing o the dash and a Chevy steering wheel.
Paint is a blend of 75% Honduras maroon, 20% deep gold metalflake and 5% bright red pearl, sprayed over a chartruese metalflake base.

That's real smooth Carps - top job.
Just goes to show those old mopars can look real pretty even with the stock grill!
Wish I hadn't made such a mess of mine now...

Re: AMT '41 Plymouth Coupe - Kustom.
Hey Bryce this one aint perfect, so what's wrong with yours? Surely nothing that can't be fixed.I was tempted to use my spare LaSalle grille, but then that would make it too cliched and I wanted it to be different. The overall shape and stance was inspired by a couple of Kurt McCormick's cars, namely his Sam Barris built and very rare '41 Buick Roadmaster and his recently restored Neil Emeroy (Valley Customs) built '41 Cadillac which has the nicest fade-away fenders ever. Pics in next frame because my 'puter still doesn't seem to like this format.

Great job. You don't see many models that look like that around.
