I call him "Big nose"
Hey guys, looks like there's been a delay with the builders so we won't be moving till January now. So first thing I did when I heard the news was to go get my model stuff out of storage and start a fresh build, I call him "big nose"
It's a 69 Dodge Charger Daytona. it's the amt Jonny lightning kit, basically the old MPC Dukes of hazard kit with a very poorly fitting nose and wing thrown in. To tell you the truth absolutely everything in this kit fits very poorly. After a LOT of messing around (mainly with the nose cone) I finally had the body looking right I also spliced the top of a pro stock scoop onto the base of the letterbox style scoop that came with the kit.
I'm building it as a pro streeter, so first thing I did was to cut and shut the chassis with a Revell Old's pro stock one, I'll also be using the rear suspension and wheels from the Revell kit.
With the chassis and suspension sorted I used the DOH body shell to get the ride height right while the paint hardens.
The engine is the hemi that came with the kit with a tunnel ram and carbs from a revell soft seal kit. I also added some plug leads and a fuel line for some detail.
Some shots of the paint, it's candy lime green, which turns gold when the sun hits it.
Hope ya's like it, just waiting for the paint to harden before I can start the final assembly.
Cheers, Dan

Re: I call him "Big nose"
Cheers for all the kind words guys
well she's now finished and added to my Pro street garage. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Hopefully its a nice day tomorrow and I'll get some nice pic's out in the sun for the showroom.
Yep, was hoping someone here would explain this to mezenrat wrote:Straight over their heads I think Scummy.

Cheers mate, I should also mention the inspiration for this build came from the yellow one that DeeCee built. I fell in love with it and just had to build my own version, love your work mateDeeCee wrote: Ilike very much, great idea, man, looking forward to seeing another TUFF Mopar done well.

Re: I call him "Big nose"
Ex Leper you say?
Nice job Dan, can't wait to see it finished. You know I like nice paint and you have certainly succeded in that department. Nearly bought some Candy Lime Green the other day.
I've got the Revell version that I was going to go down the same track, just don't know what colour yet.

Cheers for the comments guys
Tubman, if you like nice paint you'll love the candy lime green. It comes up awesome, I'm already looking for another car to paint with it Hopefully the revell kit fits together better than this AMT one, makes me glad I didn't do it standard.
