Re: AMT TRUCK KITS
Yeah Diamond Reo and Road Boss are similar, Alaskan Hauler Kenworth and Watkins/Movin On share a lot of similar parts. Dad(Scummy) will be able to give you the complete history as he has quite an interest in the old AMT kits.

Well g,day ,i'm back from nyngan - was suppose to be in broken hill now but car blew both intake manifold gaskets so spent two days in nyngan , lovely place if you ever wanted to loose someone i mean something !
Ok , from my collection of old AMT catalogs and a little from the brain ,
AMT Road Boss
Diamond Reo
White Western Star
Auto Car , ( with round gaurds ) are the same but with different bonnetts .The round autocar had a non turboed motor while all the other white kits had turbos. The square gaurded auto car had a much heavier rear suspension and super single PLASTIC steer tyres .
The watkins and the movin on w model kenworths are the same kits with different stickers . Also the alaskin hauler is the w model kenny with NO chrome and a plastic bag with the alaskin bonnett and other bits . There was also a mega rare version of a w model cement mixer but be ready to pay over $500 for a mint one and about $200 for a good built up one .
The w model came out first with the torsion bar rear suspension as well as the cabover kenny but there was many complaints about the assembly of the rear suspension that AMT redid it with hendrickson .
The ford louieville tipper snow plow is the same as the louie primemover issued many moons ago , just leave off the blade and tipper body and there you have it .
The GMC and the chevy titan are the exact same kit with different badges , in real life they were made side by side on the factory floor .
The first 359 peterbilt had a small front window and door handles at the top of the doors as well as a 8v.71 detroit deisel motor but the later ones had a new bigger cab and a cummins motor , but the chassis is the same .
The ford louie also came out with a long wheelbase with a van body and also with a race car rear ramp , but thats very old i havnt seen one in years .
The fuel tankers are all the same kits but with different stickers , the NEW chrome one is the same as the others but it's --------chrome .
The 40 foot van thats available now is the same as the refridgerated van but doesnt have the freezer motor or fuel tank or control boxs on the front of the van .
The cabover peterbilt is the same as the turnpiker but the turnpiker has custom centreline style rims and custom mirrors and a rear custom body over the drive . I don't know if you can build a stock pete as i never brought it as i didnt like it .
The R model mack was released in three versions , one with round fuel tanks and spider for the wheels and one with bud wheels and square tanks and the junkyard dog , WHICH upset mack trucks USA that they had a stroke and took ALL licenseing off everybody so thats why mack trucks are hard to get . Now i think thats all , its late , i'm buggered if any one else can throw there two bobs worth in do it thats what a forum is for .

Re: AMT TRUCK KITS
Oh and the Tyrone Malone Papa truck is the same as th BJ and the Bear cabover with a ramp added. BJ is also the same as the reissue from a few years ago that was blue on the box.

Got a Diamond Reo in the mail today and compared it to my as yet unbuilt Road Boss, the two kits do share a lot of parts including the cab and sleeper, however not only is the grille different but the bonnets are nothing at all alike, one has seperate mudgaurds, they also have different fuel tanks, hope this helps

Re: AMT TRUCK KITS
Hey cruiseliner, what ya got to swap? Also on kit similarity, the road boss & white western star share the same chassis, diamond reo is slightly different with different front suspension & steering components. Both autocar's different again. Pete turnpiker also has different grille, bumper & headlights to the standard pete pacemaker cabover. Chevy titan & astro cabover are basically the same except for mirror's & grille & there was a limited run of astro's with gas turbine motors as an option ( have one) & the box art had a yellow chevron on the front denoting such. These are big bucks, kicking off around the $500 mark. Hope this helps, me thinks scummy covered every thing else. By the way scummy, if mummy goes off, would that mean you will be departing with some of your 'haul'? If she does go off, I'm with Kev I'd like to see that, lol!
