Pro Mod Camaro
ive been going through my wall units of completed models and contemplating on re doing a few of them and ive got a few ive placed under the knife as of late to re invent them in a new light the first of these is my 2008 camaro it started life as an orange box stock camaro but i screwed up the wheel hubs and the front ones stuck out way to far and after having a squiz through and old issue of "scale auto mag" i found a couple of drag or pro mod camaro's that really captured my imagination so i started stripping paint sanding down spoilers and liberating engines from other kits to see if i can pull a drag car off, i dont have a particular area of cars i like to model or genre i just like cars that look cool and this already has been a huge and fun challenge
i started with the camaro shell obviously the main talking point of this exercise the chassis is front part 427 shelby cobra tubed chassis and the rear wheelie bar and diff is from a 55 chev sportsman kit same as the wheels etc, after lining up the chassis and wheels to the body thunderbirds were A-GO! the engine well the stock camaro engine was s@#thouse so it got replaced with a pontiac motor from the chevy sportsman again the interior tub is from a ford ranchero 64 kit and the wheel tubs are again chev donated, the bonnet looked a little bland and plain and so i modified it with a few strips of evergreen to bulk it up and after the bog dries il be slicing a bit out so the huge blower can rear its ugly head out i was going to go with a twin turbo set up but.... this aint no jap 4 banger... the bonnet holes are goin to be filled with the air vent pieces from a 08 mustang kit. ans the spoiler is chrome but in the pics it looks black or gunmetal weird haha
this picture here is what happened to me when i was modding the chassis i was using a gnurling bit on the dremel and i got a bit sloppy and and the bit went straight into my finger and bored a hole clean down to the bone dremel + sound of bone crunching = almost passing out, got downstairs quick enough to bandage myself up and i was such shock i forgot how i did it and what i was doin so if anyone wants to buy me anything for my birthday "chain mail gloves" wink XD

Thats gonna be the tuffest mongrel on the block, you could call it a CHEFORTIAC as it has a bit of all 3 in it. Will be watching your progress on this one mate as i like the modern comaro.

Re: Pro Mod Camaro
I've heard of people putting their all into something but the finger's going a bit overboard. Leave the body/paint as is, it looks cool.

Re: Pro Mod Camaro
My favorite trick with the dremel was when using those razor thin circular saws. I made the mistake of holding what I was cutting. The blade bit, then orbited what I was holding - and my thumb. I won't make that mistake three times!

Re: Pro Mod Camaro
yeah i took the bandage off today and holy smokes i got clean down to the bone and yes it still freeeeeeking hurts and i havent learnt the lesson yet of not holding something and cutting with a cut off disc sometimes tho i will try to hold the job with a pair of pliers but most of the time its just use ya fingers and if ya nick off the tip of ya finger i think all girls like a few battle scars, i told my girlfriend the next day i got into a huge fight with 50 guys and all i got was a sore finger but she didnt beleave me mainly cos she was sitting in front of me when i did it in the first place HAHA!!!
