59 chev done but not happy.
Here she is guys. Not even close to how I hoped it would turn out. It fought me every inch of the way. Parts that didnt 'quite' fit, chrome parts attached to the sprue at very visible places and 4 time paint job that stll looks crappy. Then to top it all off I found the windscreen in 2 pieces (Hence no windscren on the model until I can track one down).
I feel like I have been building this kit forever so I am calling it done. I have another kit ordered so hopefully that will turn out better.

Still came up pretty good mate, if you didn't mention the screen, you would not pick it, just thought you polished it!
Colours look good together too.

Looks good to me Dean, overall finish is good, and considering that you have built it WHILST travelling, it's a great result in my book.

This looks fine to me-nice looking colours on a classic shape. You perserved and finished it - good on you, it is all too easy to give up sometimes, and we pay good money for them.

Re: 59 chev done but not happy.
Thanks guys ...I think the problem is I had the model in minds eye and at the end ...the image was blurry. The camera can hide a lot ...but I know its there.
Anyhoot thanks for the comments. Onto the next project ....55 chev cameo pickup

Ahhh, I used to do that too, get a mental image of the finished model.....then only get dissappointment at the end of it. I've learnt to shake that nasty "habit" and just go with the flow when building now- The result? Much better model and mainly, having more fun whilst building!! Win-win!! Anyways, looking forward to your next one Dean.

Re: 59 chev done but not happy.
Mental image never matches IME.
Looks good Dean. I got one of these so thanks for the warnings.
When these (and the '59 Caddy) were released they were heralded (by model car mags) as a huge advance in US made kits - the standard to which all future kits would be held.
And of course there was also a chorus of whining & complaining about the fact that they cost more than simpler kits.

Cheers guys.

It still looks alright to me.. We are always our own harshest critics. I hope the next one turns out the way you want.

Re: 59 chev done but not happy.
it looks ok in the photos. Maybe next time just post it and see if anyone picks the issues?
you can always rust it out, then side by side with your next version, it'll be a before and after.

Makes you wonder if anyone from the company tried to build it to see if it went together all right doesn't it
Re: 59 chev done but not happy.
Hey Dean. I'm just starting out on my one of these.
Is your build here stock ride height?

Re: 59 chev done but not happy.
Yea Fred. Thats the std height. I had planned on lowering it but once I saw how it sat naturaly I decided against it. Dont like my models in the weeds.
Its worth the effort to build tho ...but I am absolutely love this model chev so I am biased !

Thanks bud.
I'm dropping in a Chevy 6 (AMT '60 pickup) as i've already robbed the 348 for something else.
