57 Chev 150
this is my new project. a Revell 1957 Chev 150 2 door.
Not sure if I should have it abandoned in a paddock
or half way through restoration.
Open for ideas.
I was thinking along these lines

Hey,Shoey.I've never had that kit,so I don't know its features. Did you open the doors and boot? If so man,I'm dazzled. No way I could leave it in a field or anywhere else. Maybe as a driver under restoration ,tho. Geeze but that's nice work. Stay with it whatever you decide. Best to tou.Bill

Thanks guys, Bill this is the Revell Black Widow kit, I have removed the doors and boot lid, They and the bonnet have been hinged using the old paperclip and plastic tubing trick.
Heres a couple more I have found

Hey again,Shoey. Please tell me what tool you use to open the doors and trunk(boot) lid. Those doors are intricate patterns as well as very fragile at the pillars. Your cuts are so precise. I've noticed a lot of you guys have a great talent for this,so I'm going to try and import the correct tools for the job. I only wish I could import the needed talant as well,LOL. Thanks Shoey and best to you.Bill

Hi Bill, Cutting the doors and boot is not real hard. I use the back of scalpel blade so it scribes it's way through,
remember not to go to deep on your first cut, if you slip it will make a awful mess, take your time.
You will also need to cut the interior to match. Sometimes you have to cut the interior floor out to make it all fit
there is usually a void between the floor and chassis that looks funny when door is open. Good luck and have fun!

Re: 57 Chev 150
I reckon a 'half restored' dio would be the go. We tend to see more dios of derelicts in paddocks than we do of partly restored cars in workshops, plus it would be a good opportunity to add a figure or two for effect?
Whatever you choose to do Shoey it will be perfect I'm sure.

The half resto idea from above would be my pick, especially after all that nice work you have done opening everything up.
Cant wait to see were you go with this build, looking great so far.

Re: 57 Chev 150
Half restored.
With some panels missing (just to add to the fun). Say front & rear wings and the door on one side.

Re: 57 Chev 150
Thanks for the input guys, My brains gettin hot with all these ideas.
I got a splash of paint on today, colour is made up with Tamiya acrylics.
contemplating Zen's idea with maybe front right guard missing or in undercoat.
the doors are removable as is all hinged stuff.
The front seat gave me a migraine. it will be very rusty as will the floor and sills.
the rest will have surface rust and weathering.
Thanks again

Re: 57 Chev 150
Wow, that seat is awesome.
I think you should definately take a wing off. After all you see plenty of rusty builds and plenty of panels stacked up in dioramas but I cant ever recall seeing anyone model a car with a panel off exposing what is underneath.
And just to make it even tricker, how about having a panel after the rust has been cut out but before fresh metal has been welded in. It'd look very good on a door if it also had the interior trim panels off so you could see right through it.
Obviously a fiddle to build but looking at the seat...

Love the seat. Seems a shame to ruin that paint job. I like the colours...

If you are thinking along those lines , you won't have to worry about wheels for it? Would look awesome as a discarded Chev as it is ---Just add it to your rubbish dump doirama with the falcon and the bent HQ
