Baldwin-Motion drag cobra- "KING COBRA"
After hearing about the passing of carroll shelby and with dufusdave's GT 500 build i have dragged this kit from the darkness, blown away the dust and will build her basically out of box which is very rare for me.Plug leads will likely be the biggest mod and i might also make some windscreen stickers honouring shelby. Also being a drag car, will be able to use this for the club display at QMHE. Thanks for looking

This kit always grabs my attention at the local hobby shop but I have never really picked it up and had a proper look. I will definately be watching this one.

Re: Baldwin-Motion drag cobra- "KING COBRA"
I found out that's why they put the pipes under the rear to use it on the streets,at first it looked a bit odd.

Re: Baldwin-Motion drag cobra- "KING COBRA"
Thanks for the comments guys , yer from my research I discovered that all her exhaust system was painted flat black or exhaust black when she was first modified In 1966, and it only since she was restored that the headers and side pipes are now polished , so I will be painting as original in flat black. Thanks for reading70cudatj wrote:Very interesting build.............. very cool.

Re: Baldwin-Motion drag cobra- "KING COBRA"
Hi Allan thanks for pics , yes I have seen these two and have done a lot of interesting reading into these dragstrip cobra's.The gold one is the 289 powered motion cobra that Joel "mr motion" Rosen the man behind motion performance modified and raced with some success before it was wrecked and then he turned to clem hoppes 427 king cobra and turned it into a record breaker. Both the gold and purple one in the photos are the "dragonsnake" cobras that were a drag package offered by Shelby American in which only 8 were built and only one was fitted with a 427 ( not king cobra as it wasn't a dragonsnake). Also the two motion cobras came before motion performance joined forces with Baldwin Chevrolet and started building high performance Chevy super cars as Baldwin motion.Well there's some useless information for you all, thanks for readingallan wrote:Grease Monkey253,have you seen these two other drag Cobras too.

Re: Baldwin-Motion drag cobra- "KING COBRA"
Here are some latest progress pics ,Have added a couple thinks that are not out of box like changing the front tires to goodyears which are correct to the original and better size then the michelins that are provided in the kit cause they just look too small compared to what she has fitted then and now. The other thing i have added is two decals on the boot lid and bonnet of the in honour of carroll shelby logo that i printed off .stay tuned
