1969 Baldwin Motion Nova
Hey guys, this is my latest "on the bench"....had to clear a dozen other projects to get it there, but that's the sacrifices we make......
From when I first heard that Revell were going to be releasing an all new 69 Nova, I knew one of them was going to be Motion equipped.....I just love these cars.....
Research has been sketchy...not much available on the net..most of the owners are pretty secretive I guess.....The couple I did find were plain wrapper type deals, very under-stated, and you'd be hard pressed to even tell if they were BM cars.....
Anyway, this build will be what I want, or what I would've ordered myself, back in 1969......The parts book was pretty much "open to browse".......depending on the wallet.
I started by filling unnecessary holes in the chassis for the stock exhaust, as this'll be anything but stock.....I also used a resin 12-bolt from Perry's Resin.
The L-88 scoop I stole from a Revell BM Camaro, it's getting something diff'rent again......
The chassis, giving a hint as to colour....Not sure I'm totally happy with my "over spray"....not really effective using rattle can...so this may end up all black. (sound deadener)
Motor is a 427BB from Revell. I used the SB headers from the kit, but seperated the middle pipes on both sides to resemble BB headers. The air cleaner base and MOTION rocker covers are from an Amt BM Camaro kit. Big Holley is a Perry's item, the dissy is from MCG and the pulleys are Detail Master. I made the alternater bracket from thin plastic sheet, and "bolted" it all to the block. I also popped in a dipstick....
Thereya go, hope you'll like her..Comments, suggestions always welcomed..
cheers guys
Greg

Thank you all so much guys, great compliments like these make me all warm'n'fuzzy......
Bit of a strain on the poor ol' eyes though.....reading glass' + magnifying headset aren't a good combo for too long.....
Was hoping to get a bit more colour shot this arvo, but was late home......maybe tomorrow she'll get some colour.....The body and hood are both under coated.....
cheers guys

Re: 1969 Baldwin Motion Nova
Is there really any colour better suited to hot cars than either slut red or bright yellow? And the yellow goes so well with chrome features like bumpers etc. Here's my 1:1 HZ which was a horrible green colour and now two pack Safety Yellow.

Re: 1969 Baldwin Motion Nova
Well guys, still fiddling with bits'n'pieces on this one.....
Absolute doing the decals on her....but, it's done. Had to paint across the very tail (where the decal stopped)..Paint didn't match the black decal. AAAHHHHHHHHH !!!
Then I proceeded to rub through a couple of spots between clear coats, touched them up and they did not match either......
Anyways....I'm calling it a 10 footer......y'know, looks good from 10 foot......
Got the front end down to where I wanted too.....gives a nice stance.
Made some Gabriel Hi-jacker shocks today. These are the kit items, I cut them in two, removed about 3mm and used a section of cotton bud (Q-tip) shaft to join them. It fits over the fatter section of the shock perfect, plus it allows you to adjust the height to suit as you install them.
I made them as if Baldwin Motion had ordered them specially as a limited run...
Once they were bolted in place (very small nuts and bolts from RBMotion) I set about adding all the brake lines.....
Darn bad eyes made this a challenge..... ..
That's it for now guys....my eyes need a rest.....more soon.
The http://public.fotki.com/Greg5000/revell-125-1969-nov/ so far. In here you can find my simple way of lowering the front.
Cheers

Cheers Bryce.
The cables are the small dia. black wire (dick smith-tandy) that I use for plug wires Bryce.
I measured out how much I needed to go from one side, up to where it cross' the tunnel then
back down the other side..(all very rough estimate...) I then stripped that entire length of the black
coating, leaving the bare wire. I bent it to shape and placed it in the retaining brackets.
With the skin (black coating) I wrapped some very fine wire (from an old slot-car armature) around it
to replicate the binding/stiffener found on some cables. I made these just long enough to join back with
the bare wire, leaving a slight sag where they attach to the brakes..
Thanks man
Greg
