Plastic swap - Brisbane
Well I took a pile of kits to the plastic swap yesterday and ended up bringing most of them home!!!
There was a club there selling models on behalf of a deceased estate. Most were selling for $10 (including some sealed kits) - there would have been 200 or so car kits.
Most were opened and were a bit of a lucky dip but nearly all the opened kits had extra parts.
One guy bought several un-built Sierras and each had Aussie Roo Decals in them!!
Another was selling near complete kits for $5 in boxes and $2.00 in plastic bags. He even sold off a few 1/16th kits at $5.00 each - I was too late for them!!!
Needless to say I and a number of others sold very little - the upside was that I picked up a few bargains.
Here are my purchases
A complete Orange Crate kit in a plastic container for $2.00
2 x 1930 Model A coupes in plastic bags (one complete and one was modded to fit a 32 chassis included in the bag) for $2.00 each
2 x complete Monogram 29 Roadster pickups for $5.00 each
Complete AMT 63 Corvette for $5.00
Complete Revell 40 Ford convertible street rod $5.00
Complete Revell 29 rat Rod with 2 sets of wheels and tires in it but no closed cab body $10
A hacked up 33 Willys with a complete unbuilt engine and chrome tree $2.00
Sealed AMT 33 Willys $15
Monogram 30 Ford Woody - (no wheels) $2.00
At the end they were doing deals on most of the remainder at about $5.00 per kit.
A number of buyers are Ebay traders so you will see them turning up on Ebay over the next couple of weeks I suspect.
Didn't see too many of the forum regulars there though.
How did anyone else go?
Chris

Re: Plastic swap - Brisbane
I didn't do as much buying as I would've liked. Most of the stuff I bought is eBay fodder but I managed to find a couple of Fujimi Enthusiast kits and a Johan '64 Dodge super stock kit for Graham (bluedog). I also scored a Monogram Long John dragster (thanks Chris ) and a kit of a CNC milling machine ! They're both in the build pile.
It was great catching up with friends but it didn't seem as good as last year.
What I really miss about PX is the early morning arrival and walking around before sunrise with a flashlight and digging in as traders show up. Those were the days....
