Police Academy 4 Van
Hi everyone, don't post here much but I'm actually building an auto model at the moment and thought I'd share it with you. I was planning on doing a diorama of the "Yama Yama" scene from Police Academy 4. But the kit body has double back doors and a side door, and the movie car has a single back door and no side door. I wanted the back door open but with my completion rate being so low this year I knew if I started filling and rescribing and cutting out new doors it may not get finished for a long time. So while the iron is hot, I'm just lightly basing this on the van in the scene. For those not familiar with the scene here's a You Tube link-

Here's where I'm at
Stripped of the chrome that come in the kit and sprayed Alclad on the hub caps, and the grill will be getting the same treatment too

Re: Police Academy 4 Van
That's a good project idea and it's coming along nicely, but you might want to go back and do that rear door later.

No.
Well mine isn't anyway.
It's a re-pop of the old 70's AMT Chevy Van kit and the moulds are so old and worn that a lot of the detail has been lost on the body.
The chassis is a bit simplified and toy like and there is no interior detail.
However, the new decals are excellent and it's not like there is a lot of choice when it comes to vans. Certainly beats paying what some of the evil-bay sellers want for what is basically the same kit.
Given a bit of work though this turns out good.
The Revell Chevy van kit is better but it's a short wheelbase van if that matters.
AMT have a re-pop of a Ford van in the works (may be out by now) which by all accounts is better detailed (Rob?) and my fingers are crossed for them to also resurect the old MPC Dodge van.

Finally got an update on the van
Sorry for the time in between updates everyone. I had a job that sucked big time, working 70hrs per week. Well I just ditched that and back into building models. So, Police Academy crest decals are on, thanks Grease Monkey 253, A bit of Alclad Chrome sprayed around the place, lights are on the body, not the flashers, they're just sitting on the roof for now. Finish not too far away now I hope.
PS Have I mentioned how mush I love Alclad Chrome?

Re: Police Academy 4 Van
A bit more done, not too much more to do. A couple of white "POLICE" decals and a bit of tidying up.

Thanks mate, scabbed the crest off a google search, and my Ol' Mate Scotty (grease monkey) printed them on his decal paper for me.
