30 Model A rod Empty 30 Model A rod

Post by Antwon Mon 18 Mar 2013, 9:23 pm

Hey Guys, this is one I built a while ago now, my first attempt at a Rat Rod........Yes I know, they're not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm becoming a fan.
Anyway this started life as an original Monogram A Model Ford that Tim & I built as kids so our Dad could try out colour schemes for his 1:1 29 Model A he was restoring.
It stayed with me for years and I never knew what to do with it, with multiple coats of paint, heaps of bits busted and missing, it was never a candidate for full resto.
BINGO....Rat rod!
Rad chop, scratch built stretched frame rails, The Parts Box blown flathead & dropped axle, scratch fuel tank, bomber seats + heaps of other mods.
Be kind guys.

Thanks guys.
Blat, the skull on the front is actually from a whitemetal war-gaming figure, I cleaned out a local hobby shop of the last few he had. There is also a styrene skull for the shifter knob, that came from a Games shop who were kind enough to just give me part of an altered figure, so I've cast that one for use again.

I'm not really a rat rod fan, but, dam, that's a nice job and it's not too overdone like a lot of rats.

It might be your first rat rod, but it's a really great build. Lots of nice detail, such as the fuel tank, battery, skull up front and
the detail on the engine. Excellent stuff. Oh, and you build a mean diorama. Not too many out there can come close to that.
Well done cobber. the bodgie.
