2014 Model Expo Empty 2014 Model Expo

Post by tezza43 Wed 12 Mar 2014, 3:05 pm

Yes it's coming soon - the 2014 Australian Model Expo will be held in Melbourne at the Sandown Racecourse Entertainment Centre, Princes Highway, Springvale. It's on over the three day Queen's Birthday weekend, June 7, 8, and 9 (Sat, Sun, Mon), with a massive Swap & Sell on the Monday morning prior to the afternoon model competition awards announcements. There's lots of automotive vehicle categories to enter, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles plus non-military dioramas. Plenty of traders will be on hand selling kits and accessories, plus club displays and modelling demonstrations. Visit the Model Expo website at www.modelexpo.com.au and check out the categories, past model galleries, etc. If you don't want to enter the competitions come along anyway and enjoy the camaraderie and enjoyment of viewing some of the best that scale modelling can offer. Rumour has it that word at the show is that Drake trailers are 'having' Moebius make one of their low loaders, dolly and K200 as a plastic kit in 1:24. Does anyone happen to know if this is true?

heard there being released sometime in 2015. 1/24 scale made me think Italeri may have the job ( hope not) given their track record. hope Moebius are doing these, but thought they would have made them 1/25 scale, double the 1/50 die cast measurments. the die cast range is expanding too c509 and others as well as new trailers. hope the plastic follows suite. I thought a chinese company like Meng might get the job since the die cast are done there. have to pull my finger out and finish scratching my swing wing before this comes out.

Expo was...
...expo.
The lighting was as crap as ever, the swamp & smell was less violent than usual (but car kits were fewer) and the judging decisions in the "civil vehicles" classes were as odd as ever.

My pics are here but be aware there are pictures of model aircraft and armour...

I agree with Zenrat judging wasn't the best, to many vehicles where put in the wrong class. But 6 off us from W.A went along and we had a great time.

Don't get me wrong, I had a good time but IPMS, despite what they say, is primarily about military builds.
