Mini Couper
About four or five years ago I was asked by another modeller to build him a Mini. He sent me a Tamiya 1966 Mini Cooper and gave me free rein.
I've just finished it.
I shortened the roof, built a boot using parts of an AMT '41 Willys body (thanks Al), moulded in fins with frenched tail-lights, added side trim, rounded the bonnet corners peaked it and dropped the front, fitted canted quad headlights, a cut down '54 Chevy grille and lowered it over wide whites with Holden FC caps.
Custom interior has high back buckets and a full length console.
Paint is cream enamel with Testors lime green pearl.

Re: Mini Couper
That is super cool. looks like it needs some eyes on the wind screen.
I like the head lights. you watch someone will build a 1-1 version now!

Re: Mini Couper
Thanks folks. I'm surprised no-one seems to have done it IRL (not that I could find anyway).

Re: Mini Couper
Hey Fred, I did a Mini Yoot years ago, but never considered adding R&C Dreamtruck style fins.
Your coupe has a nice fifties era vibe going for it, which is kinda strange since it's a sixties vehicle, buit it does work pretty good.

Re: Mini Couper
Thanks folks.
Dream Truck? Someone else has suggested Studebaker Hawk but I had '57 chev in mind when I started scratchbuilding them. As ususal when I finished scratchbuiding them they resembled something else.
Despite being a 60's icon the Mini was really a 50's car. Design started during the Suez crisis in the mid 50's and first examples rolled off the production line in 1959.
