Re: '32 Ford Coupe Speedway Rod
That is one very nicely done racer and the good news is it's fine without dirt, coz anybody who doesn't clean their car up before a race meet and between heats, is doing themselves and their advertisers/sponser a major disservice.
I'll score it

Cheers Carps... when you've built a dirt track racer/rod, it's a always a difficultCarps wrote:That is one very nicely done racer and the good news is it's fine without dirt, coz anybody who doesn't clean their car up before a race meet and between heats, is doing themselves and their advertisers/sponser a major disservice.

decision whether to chuck "mud" onto it, even though it does add to the character
but sometimes you can lose the "look" of the rod. I remember the thrill of being able
to wander through the pits (early 1960's - late 1970's) before the actual start of the
days racing and seeing the line up of cars in their different grades & classes, all cleaned
up & touched up ready for a days racing. Sometimes the drivers would hand out spare
STP or WYNNS or whatever stickers they had in their pockets to the kids.
Man those were great & exciting times.

Welcome to the forum "Delaney" and thanks mate, for your comment on my Hot Rod. I took the opportunity to look in on your builds... great work & would look awesome on a dirt track diorama. Look forward to seeing more of your work mate.

Re: '32 Ford Coupe Speedway Rod
Wow, Jerry, this is so cool - one of my favourite modelling genres. Three of us at Perth and Districts Model Club build these early speedway rods and we will have them at Super Model Car Sunday this year, displayed on a dirt track diorama. It would look great mixing it with them!
