Beno's FH16 Volvo in 1:24 scale
Hi all, just last week started the Italeri FH16 kit, and I should've finished a few sitting on the bench before I started this truck but anyway I got pretty keen. Even though there is no rush on this project. I'm trying to make it look pretty close to the one I drive at work. But to do that I have to change the roof from a Globetrotter cab to standard, put in a RHD dash, change the drive train from single to bogey drive, different fuel tanks, cut out the window on the back of the sleeper, scratch the exhaust stack, install AdBlue, scratch the battery box, try and find a Viesa unit, and scratch build the bullbar. To make it a bit easier I've purchasd a few conversions from Kit Form Services, A&N Model trucks & Auslowe Model Accessories. Here's where I'm up to.
The real deal
The Kit
Slightly different set up to my truck, but close enough
PS I don't like white metal

Re: Beno's FH16 Volvo in 1:24 scale
Well, that was actually just a fluke, found a good square on shot of the truck and hit the print button. I checked the pic by placing the side of the cab over it and bugger me, it was within 1mm in all directions. Close enough for me, because I was sure I was going to have to waste a few prints by adjusting the % on the print preview page. Also the fuel tanks were spot on too, which surprised me, as they are a Kenworth set from Auslowe.

Thanks Allan, but I did it once a few years back as a bit of a joke and got the message that is a Auto builders forum, so you can check some stuff on the Aussie Modeller Iternational Forum if you like.

Any dramas getting stuff from KFS and A&N? I hear KFS doesn't take paypal , credit cards etc?

Re: Beno's FH16 Volvo in 1:24 scale
Nah no dramas with either of them. But yes, KFS doesn't take paypal. But I just used my Credit card. Sent my details over a couple of emails. Break your card's details up, the card number in one email, & then expiry date in another one. I've been using that method to pay for convervions for aussie miltary stuff from Mouse House for many years and never had any dramas. A&N was trouble free also.

Yep, it's all scratch built, the yellowish parts are resin that I've purchased, but any of the white evergreen is stuff I've made. I've done a bit more in the last few days too.
Wheels & tanks just mocked up to see how it looks with the AdBlue tank fitted
Test fit, test fit, and then test fit some more

Big Update
Here's a big update, I've been a slack with posting on the Volvo, but I've still been hooking in on it. I've done 2 turn tables, one for when its bobtail & one for when it's got a trailer on. The second one I had to make a plate for it so it sat higher off the chassis because the trailer was almost sitting on the mudguards. Cab is painted, but no windows yet. And I've scratch built the exhaust stack and mounts for the muffler box, and the battery box. Also ended getting the KFS sleeper aircon set, not Veisa but almost the same, just made a cover for the bottle that goes onto the cab.
Just a mock up with the trailer, bullbar is just stuck on with blutac, and cab still has no windows yet.
Mud flaps added

Nice work Beno. Bet the bottle of Bundy becomes a little distracting at times judging by the level in it

In your earlier photos, what's the go with the gearshift beside the back of the seat? Just a 'typo' or is that where it really is ? I'm surprised the company truck isn't an auto!
