COUPLE OF '34 FORDS
G'day again guys... bought a couple 34 Fords a little while ago & recently started
work on the Roadster (pressed out & moulded in burgundy by RevHell in 1984).
But then I got mixed ideas as to how I wanted this car to look, so I dragged
out the Coupe (pressed out & moulded in black by RevHell in 1986).
The parts supplied in these kits are absolutely identical in every way except the
Coupe comes with mudguards, chopped roof , 2 piece tyres & square headlights.
So now I'm doing something I haven't done before. (I reckon you guys are a very
bad influence!.. ) now I've got 2 builds on the go!, But I 'spose some of you
have heaps more on the go?...
Anyway, got lots of bits 'n' pieces from kits & parts box so we'll see what I can
come up with out of these two 34's, will keep you posted & thanks for lookin' in.
As usual, any suggestions or helpful hints are always welcome. Cheers.

Re: COUPLE OF '34 FORDS
The bodies are way off the mark I think because Revell made them fir the Little John chassis. They're probably more to scale as an English coupe than an American one. They build up well though and have some cool parts.
Looking forward to seeing these progress.

Re: COUPLE OF '34 FORDS
It's not just the headlamps that are horrible it's most things about that strangely scaled kit.zenrat wrote:Those square headlights are horrible BTW.
The body was scaled to fit the Buttera T chassis and it's just all kinds of wrong and Revellogram knew that because they'd previously done a couple of the best scaled and most accurately detailed '34 Ford kits you'll ever find. I'm pretty sure thay only did it to capitalise on the ZZ Top Coupes popularity and designed the body to fit on the chassis and drivetrain that they had used under a few other hot rod bodies at the time.
However, like any kit, with a little work and patience it can be built into a very nice model

Re: COUPLE OF '34 FORDS
The suspension is actually early Boyd Coddington.ozmodeler wrote:The Jag based independent suspension , front and rear in these kits are really nice !
Before Boyd became famous he and John Buttera were great mates and together they designed this suspension system and John did all the machine work to make them. The straw that broke the camels back and destroyed their relationship forever, was when Boyd took all the credit (and the money) for Little Johns idea and work in making the very first set of billet wheels. Yup most of those early Boyd's billet wheels and suspension parts were designed and made by Buttera. After Buttera left the coddington designs stopped evolving until Boyd employed Chip Foose and we all know how that relationship soured when Boyd took more than his share of credit for Chip's work.

Re: COUPLE OF '34 FORDS
I'm hanging out to see what you do with these Jerry?
I have the old Monogram version of this odd sized kit, the one with the yellow flames, they look something like 1/28th scale to me.
Anyway mine is on the rebuild short list and I'm keen to see how these turn out.

But any way I persisted and kept chipping away. Hopefully they will turn out looking
somewhat respectable?... will post some "on the workbench" pics, and keep you
guys posted. Cheers for lookin' in. The "Roadster" so far....
Oh yeh.... As for the Custom Coupe?.... becoming a "Chopped Hi-Boy"with
a hopped up "Olds Mobile"engine from Revells '51 Thames Panel Truck kit.
Again...some cutting & shoving involved!...
