Woot!.....back in the zone on the Sandman....I think I gots me mojo back...!
Finally painted the tailgate...also painted the tailgate struts...but forgot to take some pics...got to let the clear coat cure for a couple of days before I can handle the tailgate to install...
Tomorrow night when I get home, I'll get some work done on the windscreen...
Anywho... A few pics..

Re: Holden HX Overlander Panelvan
Building curved windshields is a real biatch...! But getting there slowly but surely...ain't gonna be pretty though...still need to do the top frame finisher thingy as well as the sides...will see if I can get this done tonight...luckily the Sandman comes with the frame blacked out , so will do that as well a general black border around the windshield itself...

Hey thanks Allan ! Still got a bit to do on it...had to put a hold on it the last few months..so never really completed it... Gonna try to get her done with this go...lol! Working on the rear bumpers again...I had the apartment painted Christmas week...so everything was in a rush and I seemed to have lost one of the rear bumpers...gonna make a mold of the one I do have and just cast a couple of pieces of it!
Still need to make door handles, door mirror, taillight lenses and front indicator lenses, carpet the front floor and install the front interior, finish the v8 top and detail the engine bay....I'm sure I'm forgetting something...lol!

Thanks mate! Messed about with some molding and casting last night!
Made a mold of the nose panel...came out pretty good...but I cracked the stone shield on the original...easy fix though... I think I see a HX station wagon and Ute on the horizon...lol... And definitely a one Tonner ...lol!
This is the first cast...came out nice! The discoloration is from the modeling clay use to stabilize the piece.the next ones will be bright white...
The grille and the bumper fits nicely!

Re: Holden HX Overlander Panelvan
Been working on replicating the grille, so I can have a complete front clip ...lol...
Prepped the grille for the silicone mold then I chickened out...lol! I felt that the way it was built, it will definitely get damaged while extracting it from the cured silicone...so started to build another grille that will be easier to mold so that there isn't any damage....almost done with it...just need to do the center piece now. Man...I'm not looking forward to cutting up and gluing them tiny pieces...lol...
Some pics of where it's at...

Re: Holden HX Overlander Panelvan
Here's another small update..!
Made some progress on the center portion of the grille....but made it blank...:...lol
This way, i will mold the blank and run off a few casts of it, then I can build a few versions of the different grilles, then mold those as well... I believe that the 1:1 cars HJ-HX all had the same outer frame with various grilles on the inner portion...lol...will see how it goes...
Also thinking of making another cast of the nose panel then re-do the light section like this...if it looks good enough I will mold it as well...lol
Yeah ...I just went over the deep end...lol...!

Re: Holden HX Overlander Panelvan
Yes HQ-HJ-HX-HZ looks close but there is very small change in the bonnets, the two ridges on the side of the bonnet are different so is the front panel of the grill, you need to look close at how high it sits & with the HQ is does not go back to the panel under the windscreen, with the single headlights are used in base model and Kingswood the twin were used in the Premier and Statesman. Oh the three vents in the fender are from the Monaro range.
The van is look good so far.

Hey thanks DeeCee! Yeah...gonna do the Tonner next...lol...only because it's basically a cab....lol. If it goes quickly enough...I'm thinking I'll make 2. The second one I'll cut up along the fender lines an cut out the doors and build the door jambs and get the door fitted out to match... And depending on how that goes, I can mold and cast the pieces so putting it together will be quicker.... Which means when I'm ready to do the ute and wagon, I will already have the front pieces so will be just building the rear...lol....I hope...lol.
Oh yeah...and they will be street versions...so low yup.....lol!

Hey thanks Allan !
Yep... Been taking notes an collecting pics....the differences are subtle to those who aerent familiar, but when I look at them now...they really are major differences...been thinking about converting the cast nose panel to HQ, but it seems like an entirely different shape now...! Will probably gave a go at converting it, but i may eventually gave to scratch build it....still trying to get the relevant pics to help determine the shapes...the front of the fenders are different, the bonnet and cowl panel is different, different bumper , different grille different head light and headlight location....lol....yeah...may just go ahead and build it from scratch....lol!
