Pontiac Firebird Super Gas Drag car
Hey guys, been on this for a while, it was a commissioned job for a guy in South Australia as a gift for his father who owns the real car.
I started with a a Model King re issue of the Pontiac Firebird Pro Stocker, I used a resin scoop from Competition Resin and the wheels are from Micro Nitro in the States, they are CNC machined ally, just beautiful. Paint is 2013 Camaro Crystal red and Black, with Holts Duplicolour rattle can clear, all acrylic lacquer. A good mate, who will remain nameless unless he wants to put his hand up, did the stencil for the graphics, about an hour on the vinyl cutter and some very careful positioning and this is the result. Decals were done by another mate on The Parts Box forum and they are spot on, bit of back and forward with sizing but all good in the end.
A new inlet manifold was made as it needed to be changed from tunnel rammed twin carb to high rise single. Bar work was added to the front to hold the fuel tank which was modified from an Olds Pro Stock kit.. Lots of scratch building of dizzy, fuel lines and so on was done.
Chassis is basically stock apart from gauges, shifter, computer, and parachute handle, a harness was also added.
At the back, the parachute was changed from double to single shute.
First pic is of the real car (everything was done from pics, I haven't seen it in the flesh yet)

SUPERB replication, you should be very happy with the result, I reckon the guy will be over the moon with the perfect replica of his own race car.

Congrats on a superb job.
I know from experience what it is like to give someone a "real" memory - very special
