58 Plymouth
I picked up the Christine 58 Plymouth a while ago, now, as much as i like the movie, and the shape of the car, i really hate the side trim, and not a real fan of the paint either.
So, i have cleaned up the sides, as the flash went right through all the mouldings, etc, so would look like cr#p even after i cleaned it up.
OH. i have also added a bit of power to the ol' girl.
A scratch built Pro-charger for the 426 Hemi....
A ste of Aoshima KRANZE rims too.
Had to chop out the inner guard to make the bugger fit though.
So, i fabricated a new inner guard to accomodate the pro-charger.

Looking good, Not a fan of these newer wheels, I think it needs big wide rear tyres on the back of her to go with the Hemi

Re: 58 Plymouth
Love the movie, love the car, like the engine set up it looks tough as, hate the wheels sorry. Roland LeBay would be spinning in his grave if he seen big diameter wheels on his baby.

Would I be right in assuming that if this "Christine" model
falls to the floor or gets broken some how, it'll fix itself?...
Umm sorry.
Anyway lookin' good so far Dale, although I'm not a keen fan on those
humungous wheels either. But let's see what she looks like when finished.

Re: 58 Plymouth
Deadly, yes i do have a lot of time on my hands, as i have finished my 1:1 build, so what better to do than model.
I see you all don't like the wheel choice, fair enough, we all are different, but i tried about 20 sets of wheels on this one, seeing what would fit etc, and i decided to go with this choice just to "New School" it so to speak, to keep up with the
pro-charger idea, but i am thinking of black centres or just the spokes black?? not sure on that yet.
Jerry, i have not dropped it yet, and don't want to, but every time i paint it black, it turns red again.....maybe this is a sign.

Re: 58 Plymouth
Painting the centre or spokes may help the rims, black or dark gunmetal grey. what colour are you going with on it.

Yeeehhh!... Black will make this baby look "wicked".
Dale, sorry 'bout the questions, but I noticed the "Zap a Gap"
in the background. Where & when during construction do you use this?,
and is it similar to normal "super glue"? and what is "Formula 568"?

Thanks guys, Jerry, i use the Zap a Gap when using styrene, as it sticks much better than regular super glue, i also have the setting formula for it, one touch and it sets instantly.
The formula 568 is what i use for installing windows, glass and chrome trim, as it dries perfectly clear, the best thing i have on the bench really, no more glue on the windows.
And Allan, there is a red stripe down the middle, it is the evil with in.

Nice build Dee Cee . I don't mind the wheels but I'd need to see all 20 sets on it to tell you
if I think they're the best ones

Re: 58 Plymouth
Cheers Dale for that info mate!... I been using "Loctite" super glue
for those stubborn & fiddly bits and "Weldbond" PVA adhesive
for the Windows, H/L lenses etc. However sometimes the slightest
touch and everything falls off. So these adhesives you're using
seem to be that bit better mate. Will give 'em a go.
Getting back to "Christines" evil sister.... I notice the"Red"
creeping back!... She's looking real nice at the mo'

Mate, i hear ya, but i don't know how i can add depth to this wheel, if i had a lathe, i would make a new outer band, but otherwise i am buggered, i HAVE tried options from other wheels though mate.
Jerry and OZ, yeah,....not sure what to do there, the red seems to find its way back every time.... i suppose i just have to relent, and let it be..

Hmmmmmmmmmm.................what about maybe using some electrical conduit ( think it is PVC or poly ) to make the bands, & then Alclad them

Re: 58 Plymouth
Would it be possible to use Auslowe small 10 stud wheels that you use under step decks etc? Either fill the holes in the back or cut the back off to the width of your tyre to give you a deep rim? It might give you the old school smaller rim look...... don't forget I'm a truck builder before you laugh! Maybe you could use the 1:25 rims from an AMT type truck kit for a taller rim as I think Auslowe do a low profile tyre to suit it. Might involve a bit off cutting and shutting but if anyone can handle it you can. This idea might sound better after some frosty beverages.

Really like this build and looking forward to see how it turns out. Think the rims will suit the new black colour scheme as they are.

Re: 58 Plymouth
Thanks for everybody's input and concern, and i have sorted the wheels.
They stay! BUT, i did look at what Deadly said a couple of times, i have sliced a couple of scale inches off the rear of the rim
and squeezed it in between the spoke section and the outer band, so now it has a bit more dish, any more and i would have had to tub it, which was NOT going to happen.
Also tried the black spokes with some black BMF, just in case i didn't like them, which was a good idea, i didn't.
Next pics should be in the showroom.
