40 Ford Sedan Delivery.
Here is something very different, i am doing in a sleeper cannonball build off.
40 Ford kit, and a Ferrari Testarossa, combined, it has taken a while so far, between other projects, but i finally have the rear of the chassis modified
enough to fit the flat 12 and transaxle.
Also, wanted the Ferrari sized rubber, yet an old school look, so i removed the centres from the ferrari rims, and squeezed a set of chromies inside, that way
i have old school cool, with 18" x 10" rubber under the guards.
Starting point.
Chassis work.
Wheels.
And it WILL sit this low.
This is a LOOOOONG term project, so updates will come, but not as quick as usual, it is being build between other builds.

Re: 40 Ford Sedan Delivery.
Firstly guys, thanks for the interest, this is going to be a long slow build though, so have patience with me please.
Secondly, as i am NO automotive engineer, or suspension guru, this really did my head in for a while, but, i think i finally kicked its butt.!!
As there is no room in the rear for all the correct Ferrari suspension, i decided to bang a solid axle through the trans-axle, and suspend the engine, so to speak.
Then made to links to the axle housing, and 2 links to the engine, with "hydraulically controlled coil overs" so to speak, which are given pressure from the A/C unit, now the engine acts like suspension at the rear,
and has a pivot point incorporated into the front engine mounts. Sounds complicated, good, i am hopeing to baffle you with brilliance, while feeding you with bullsh!t.!
And for the front, i have used the A-arms from the Ferrari kit, slightly modified, and instead of putting the shocks in the conventional position,
i took a bit of an idea i have seen on open wheel race cars, the shocks are now mounted inboard, and would be electrically actuated of course, just like F1 used to have a few years ago. ( more baffling B/S )
And the stance is SPOT ON !!
Next update might be a while away, as i now have to design and work out the cooling system. ??????

40 Ford Sedan Delivery.
Nice work, very creative...with the cooling system how about a big rear mounted ali radiator / with twin themo fans venting through louvres in the rear of the body?? or agressive styled ducted air scoops in the side of the body? ...think Ford GT 40 or similer...then that leaves the engine bay of the van to put a few rows of Nitrous bottles and a fuel tank etc.in??

Re: 40 Ford Sedan Delivery.
I really like your thinking, but, this is being built as a sleeper, so I don't want anything to be too obvious, a duct in the roof is a possibility, and maybe stuff the engine bay full of radiators, and plumb them back to the engine.......not tooo sure yet mate.

Re: 40 Ford Sedan Delivery.
WELL, been a while since i worked on this one, but now the Merc is done, out it comes again.
I got the fuel tank painted and fitted.
Next, i need to get air into the back to feed the motor, and wanting to keep with the Ferrari theme, i found the remains of an old F40 i had stolen parts from many years ago.
These are the tops of the doors.
And where they will sit from the inside, tomorrow night i will start opening them up from the outside.
