'68 Roadrunner
To spur me back into a better modeling frame of mind I've dug out this old AMT '68 Roadrunner that I stripped from an old build and had painted yellow about 4 years ago.
It started life as a box stock build in white, but as usual I got bored of looking at it and decided to give it a new life. Unfortunately I didn't take any before shots, but I did take some in-progress shots.
Now bare in mind that most of the work on this has been done in motel rooms, besides the painting, and the photos are a bit crap but you get the idea where this is going.
So far I've added '70 style side scoops, reworked the old great big hole in the bonnet as it'll have a honking big blown Hemi sticking through, I've shaved the door handles (after one got broken in transit, I'd opened them up years ago) and re-scribed all the door, boot and window trim lines.
Upgrades include an interior donated from an AMT "Showroom Replica" '09 Challenger, Pegasus 20" rims and will have rack & pinion steering, oh and I've converted it from manual to auto trans. The Hemi is a casting I made from the original kit motor but I've reworked the sump to clear the steering rack, made a new oil filter and added various resin and hand made pulleys for the blower drive. The carbies are some I made from aftermarket and scratch made parts and cast. Don't ask where the blower and pulleys came from, can't remember
It'll have some black added somewhere, either stripes or blackouts on the bonnet and maybe black bumpers too, that's yet to be decided.
So you can now see where this is going ....
Cheers TJ

Re: '68 Roadrunner
Some progress on the exhausts, made some collectors.
Hopefully this is my last weekend stuck in a motel room and I should be able to get some better progress on this soon

Re: '68 Roadrunner
Turned them up on the lathe out of 6mm ally rod,
Then drilled the holes and filed the flange to shape.
I'm fairly chuffed with them too.
Cheers mate .

Re: '68 Roadrunner
Yeah it's fairly big outlay but worth it, actually I'm thinking of upgrading to a bigger one.
The possibilities are endless, cliche but true, I did these rim extensions for some Aoshima wheels the other day,
Finished rims ... they look way cool on the RR but they're going on another build
Just teasing .....
