Western Star Empty Western Star

Post by Shoey Tue 30 Sep 2008, 4:23 pm

Here is my attempt at the Italeri Western Star, it has rear mud guards and bug deflectors from Auslowe Model parts.
I know the sign on the front says ROAD TRAIN, I only have one trailer. I dont build trucks so I thought I'd give one ago.
I converted the square headlights to round ones

Only one word can sum this one up.....AWESOME!!!!!!

Oh and by the way, I live in central west NSW and I can tell you there are plenty of semi's out here wearing Road Train signage. It actually adds to the realism.

Shoey stay out of the truck section ya too good, only kidding my friend WOW what a great job on those insects R great how did U do them and for a person who has never built a rig before U've done us truck builders proud and set the bar a little higher for detail but I don't mind, we need the bar set higher and as allan says send it to Truckin' Life Mag U'll win for sure. Well done Shoey and let's see more truck for ya mate all I can say is congrats bowdown and I mean that. greatwork bigthumbsup

Oh by the way I would worry about the road train sign U could always say that the second trailer fell off. (hehehe)

Shoey, this is sensational! Don't know how I have missed this one. I could easily mistake some of the underbonet shots for a 1:1. Love the weathering, you just need to tell us where we can get some 1/24 scale bugs Western Star Icon_lol

Great detail you have done on this, I just love the realism that you have managed to catch,
Great engine detail, and wiring.... even to the lights, nice touch
Now how did you make those little bugs that are splattered all over the front?

I dont build trucks so I thought I'd give one ago.

Well if they turn out like this all the time I'm sure all the truck modellers are sighing huge sighs of releif. Wasnt till I reread that I discovered it was a model, a trait many if not all your builds posess. so congrats on another build superbly done and I cant wait to see the next one.

Thanks again for the comments guys, I need to soften my pillow now for my big head!!
Argosy, The bugs were made from small clip seal bags. I cut the shape of the wings from the edges of the bag already having two layers and the fold. a little bit of putty and paint for the splat!
Thanks again and Cheers!
