WOW, that is some serious body job mate, I can see why your starting to panic, BUT, now the fun part begins, making it all go back together just how you picture it in your head, it might take a bit more cutting and glue than you thought, but I am sure you will make it happen. Very interesting and wild ..

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
Got A little more body work done...now for some putty and some serious sanding & shaping.
This is a bigger build project than my F100 Custom Tow truck I think!.
Anyway started on the more complex part of this build?... the "Chassis"... having not one available from a kit, it was like "Cr@p" ok, look at some pics on Google get some ideas and build one!!!... Hope I'm on the right track here???....excuse the putty, but there will be a lot of sanding back as I go along.
That's it for now ....

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
Thanks guys for ya comments and encouragement. I'm just plugging away with this car, using what ever I have at hand in my parts stash and scrap box. I know that the body shell no longer has the distinct lines or shape of a "Willys Coupe", but I just love that Ol' school look & hopefully this build will turn out as I am expecting.

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
Bit of an update on the "Altered" WIP... bit more work on the scratch built chassis & roll cage, floor pan, seat, steering etc. still to come. Made front axle, & steering etc. from bits out of my parts stash. More rubbing back on the Body shell and spray puttied, it's kinda taking on a nice shape now?. Thanks Dale for your advice re: spray putty etc.
Anyway, that's it for now, thanks for your comments, and remember, I'm always open to fair criticism or helpful advice.
Thanks Guys

I love this but is it just me or does the body resemble Darth Vader's helmet ? Can't wait to see this finished

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
G'day again guys... a bit more work done on the "Altered Willys". I changed the roll cage to more of a rounded one. Scratch built instrument panel, Tacho, switches & warning light & made steering wheel from a round old style one. Made front axle from sprue & added steering links etc. from my parts box. Seat was from the original Willys kit but puttied and sanded smooth to resemble an aluminium seat.
Scratch built headers using 3/32 styrene tube. The parachute made from a balsa block, masking tape & wire. The main chute attachment cable was made from rolled Alfoil.
I cut some windows from a clear CD case, will attempt to give them that "tinted drag" look by spraying them with Tamiya clear orange?... Hope it works.
Well the Car is starting to take shape now (having being built from assorted parts, bits & pieces) so now it's off to the "Paint & Sign Shop" & then hopefully to "The Showroom".

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
Love the concept & the workmanship. The chassis work is as sweet as the body work. It'll scare the proverbial out of any Topolino that turns up!! Its also nice to see someone getting more out of the traditional Willies coupe. Like to have a go at a "57 Chev? Congrats

Re: "Cut & Shut" WILLYS ALTERED
G'day again fellas and thanks for the encouraging comments, I'm so hoping that this build will turn out even though it's built from all sort of bits 'n' pieces from my parts trays or made from scratch.
Anyways, the body is in the "paint shop" (corner of one of my sheds), so I started to go through my Decal box. As I didn't have a lot of "drag" related decals (not even a STP decal!!!), I printed some of my own, so here's a preview of what hopefully will go on to the car. "Goodyear Eagle" on the tyres would be nice, "Gates PowerGrip" - Pulley belt,
"Wild Willy" - Ummm somewhere?, "AA/FA" & "STP" - ???
Thanks again for looking in... Next stop will be the "Showroom"?.....
