T 650 updated
Planned a easy day, mailed box's interstate, called into Walkdens, place I did pt work for.
Before i broke ankle, 10 mnths back, took photos of truck they had me in, when asked..I said..I'm thinking about building a model of it.
Today mike's words were..."Gidday Clea, where's the model...Les wants it, he is coming over Thursday....Shit a commission build.
This is what he expects.
I had started the model, when I was off This is the background.
Old W cab, cut it up, put bonnet locks in, wiper mtr, roof console
Do bonnett fit, aircleaners, old W model chassis.
Make tanks
Make, mount battery boxes, locate suspension
Mount cab, make mount tanks, hinge doors
Everything lined up, on it's feet
Top console, visors in fab & install dash, mount bar
Do back plates, exhausts, service tanks, sitting ok.
That was before, back home today pull it off shelf..
NO Motor, the truck has a 600 Cummins Signature in it.
Normally I'd make the mtr out of laminated plastic, cut and carve and make the ancillary bits, plumb it up, takes a couple of days, don't believe in after market, can't get one over Easter even if I wanted to.
Got a 350 block out of box, sanded sides down, grabbed a alternator, some bits and pieces, bit of solder, bit of wire, some fishing line, a bit of sprue; Packet of smokes, 4 stubbies, and GO for it.
350 turbo, couple of bits of plastic, bits from the Cummins box...scribe the top plate
Do the pulleys, try the belts.
Paint it, see what it shapes up like.
Sit it in...looks ok.
What I'm getting at is.....I started the mtr at..~ (about) 11.30, it was sitting in the chassis, about 4.30.
Looks like a signature to me, cost me Hrs, 5 stubbies, 12 - 15 smokes, about $5.00 worth of material
So now I have 6 days to finish it, checked my cache of letraset/decadry... got white for the signage...see how I go.
Have a safe Easter,
Cheers
Clea.

Dale;
Les is one hell of a nice bloke, I enjoy working for him, he is doing really well in forestry in vic. I started doing it for something to do while off, and doing it because I want to.
Cheers

Easter Sunday...progress
So...as of Sunday 5:00pm status of this S.....x is:
Motor's in, tanks, interior seats etc done, haven't mounted dash/console yet
Cab, bonnet & doors on first coat, looking for flaws to sand back & redo, plus i've got to mount doors..AGAIN.
Mtrs all plumbed, sits in well (i think)...piping to finish.
Just about to detail dash, console, and door interior
Msk it up for the blue tomorrow, see how I go with the pin striping.
Don't normally do "pin striping"....so in order to learn.......How, any suggestions? (I HATE using decals!)
Then A couple of coats of clear, semi matt, put the hardware on.
Cheers,
Clea
