Western Star
This a project l started a few weeks ago the truck is the Western Star from the LA Fire Dept l filled in the back of the cab where the sleeper fitted and cut in a back window, the hook set up was a bit of trial and error to get the boom to work and now l reckon the boom is a bit to heavy so l will cut it down and make it a bit finer the truck will have home made aluminium fuel tanks l bought a metre of 25 mm aluminium tube a metre of 25 mm flat and away you go about 10 bucks for the lot,l will make up a bin using the old tri axle tipper body that is it for now Cheers Col

Re: Western Star
Nice start Col. I have to agree....the hook does look a touch too heavy, but other than that..........

Re: Western Star
I see what you're saying about the boom but it does look butch like that. Would a slight stretch to the chassis make it more in proportion? Seems a shame to cut it after all that work! Either way keen to see how it turns out.

Re: Western Star
A lot of hooklifts pivot at the heel (or elbow) and extend between heel and anchor point and don't forget to give the hooklift its own chassis as all bodies may it be tippers, hooklifts, mixers, tankers you name it as they are all pre manufactured to bolt to any truck. In saying that cool subject and lookin' good so far
