Re: Random Inspiration!!
FJ sedan looks great and I remember seeing the FJ hearse years ago at Rickshaws at the woolsheds in Wickham!
Got to know Frank Lee a little...a great airbrusher!

Re: Random Inspiration!!
It's a '40 Willys Sedan Allan. Note the split grille.
It was for sale but I can't find it again.
This is a '40 sedan delivery
Sedans are rarer than coupes as they were heavier and so not popular as gassers and got chopped up for the parts that fitted the coupes.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Sorry Fred but Poms cant build modified cars at all.
They never get the proportions or the styling right be it Pre 48's, street machines or vans.

The FJ Hearse would've indeed been Pat Fay's Humpty Mecca Hearse, it still exists but it's 3 parts buggered. Frank Lee did the murals and was a legend with an airbrush, still pretty sharp these days for a guy in his 80's.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
The CBS van is the highlight apart from the highbeams on the helicopter car.

IIRC the CBS Supervan was a Bedford CF and CBS were a brake pad manufacturers.
Custom Car magazine was great. Every month a topless model obscuring the feature car. My mum hated me buying it.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Those who get The Rodders' Journal (or stand and read it in the newso's) will have seen this.
It's a '59 Chevy 4 door wagon built by Cody Walls and it's pretty near perfect in my book. I think the side trim could come further back onto the rear doors in rode to break up that large flat area somewhat - but that's about it.
It's wedge channelled 4" at the front (2" in the middle), airbagged, is powered by a 6 and the bonnet and front roll pan are made from ribbed metal cut out of a second roof.
It seats 9.
