Re: Random Inspiration!!
Oz At Penrith , we probably walked past each other and had no idea who was who? That orange '56 Chev Pickup might be the inspiration for me to get a kit of that one. The Londonderry turnout was quite good , even though it was windy . Check out this website ; www.carsofaustralia.com They show all the big and little car shows around Australia within a few days after the event. My Yellow Monaro should be there, as it was on The All Holden day. Check it out.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Got my "32 5-window and also picked a car on the Sydney show circuit as inspiration to to build in a similar fashion as a fenderless coupe and a sort of metallic mint green colour. Not started yet, still in the plan stage . Paul, I have the same problem that there are so many great '32's around that you would end up building kits of '32 Fords forever.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Lately I've had a few good finds in Big W's dvd bins , picked up series 2 of "Hot Rod TV" on Friday for $14 and "Rides" season 2 a couple of weeks ago for a similar price . Both show some amazing cars and monumental car shows (the powercruise looks like something you have to go to once in your life ...) for ideas , plus pretty entertaining .

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Here's some more pics from last weekend.
These are all from Power of the Past at Mount Barker.
Mostly standard (although I have my suspicions about at least 2 of them) or race stuff.
Hopefully some inspiration though.
'39 Plymouth
'60 Chrysler New Yorker
Austin what? I thought maybe A40 but not so sure. Nice stance. Sort of almost semi Gasser. Didn't sound like there was anything serious under the skin but that 350 on the No. plate has got me thinking...
Citroen - rat rodders eat your hearts out. Mother nature and time do a much better job - keep your fake patina.
De Soto Diplomat
I want one of these. Any volunteers to passenger?
When do you ever see a Hudson? There were 2 there.
This ones for all you truckophiles
Midget racers (sign on the first one lied - says 500cc but engine number is ZB31... which means 350cc. Rivet counter? Moi?)
Vauxhaul Wyvern - very rare in the UK as most of them self recycled into iron oxide.
Lots more pics here including a million of all sorts of detail of the New Yorker (I went a bit crazy), some Dodges, more midgets, various other (probably wrongly identified) cars, strange collections and a vintage mower that's a work of art.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
Hey Zen that Austin is a '57 - '58 Austin Lancer made by BMC in Aus. It had the same four cylinder 1500cc engine that the MGA used. Brian Foley raced one in the 1960 Armstrong 500 (Bathurst) and finished 9th in Class 'C'. He also raced it at other Aus circuits from time to time. Brian Sampson was another driver who raced an Austin Lancer, modified to MGA specs in 1960.
Nice pics - thanks for sharing.

For all you weatherers out there.
This is our gennie & compressor trailer. Thought it might provide some inspiration.

Found this today while "researching" online. It blew me away. I reckon this is just pure unadulterated automotive porn:

IIRC that was the American "street machine of the year" last year. Very nice piece of rolling artwork, and apparently they aren't scared to drive it either.

Re: Random Inspiration!!
That 'vettes almost perfect Bryce. Just that the rubbers a bit too low profile for my liking.
Certainly more spankworthy than a rusty trailer:D
Based on a '60?

Yeah it's real purty. And as ChevyFan states, they are not afraid to drive it too:

Re: Random Inspiration!!
More weathering reference.
This is from driving around the poo farm and on wet roads.
Note how raised areas mask parts of the body work and panel gaps seem to stop flying dirt (some sort of turbulence?).
Also note the swirls & patterns in the dirt and how while the front stays pretty clean the back is filthy.
