KOOKIE'S T-BUCKET
Anyone (apart from me) remember the TV show "77 Sunset Strip" that ran from 1958 to 1964 on Aussie TV? It followed the adventures of a firm of Private Investigators situated at the title address. The car hop at front was a character named Gerald Lloyd Cookson or "Kookie" for short. His personal ride was a magnificent 1922 T-bucket hot rod that featured regularly in the series. The actor was Edd Byrnes and the T-bucket's builder was Norm Grabowski. It had a '52 Cadillac engine and a body made up from a '22 T and a '31 A. The original supercharger was replaced with four Stromberg carbs, and the exhaust pipes altered from a straight-up design to one that follows the bed rails rearward. This 1:24 scale diecast model by the Danbury Mint will soon be available from Legacy Motors and other American outlets online including the Danbury Mint itself. Cost is expected to be around the US$150 mark. Danbury Mint website is http://www.danburymint.com/diecast/?cm_re=E1-_-shops-_-diecast
